Thanks Gman. I just do not sugar coat things. No one can accuse me of being overly PC.

Rosty on top of things there is only 7 of us. So if a turkey cost 30bucks. That would of been 210 dollars. Whats 210bucks to my boss. Who no lies carrys around 1,000 dollars with him at all times in cash. One time we were working out of town and i had to go to a dump were we didn't have an account. So he gave me cash. He pulled out a big stack of bills in a money clip. He told me he carrys that much cuz you never know when your going to need it or if he come across a good deal he has money on him.

But i was really really shocked. He gave us off the day before X-mas and paid us for Thursday and Friday. So i guess he isn't all that cheap. Cuz we all thought we weren't going to get paid X-mas.

Overall I'm over it. It is what it is. I cant change it. Hes the boss and will do what he wants. We are all replaceable in his eyes.

I think PC is grossly over rated, Pack_Rat. I have had employees in the past who have seen the amount of money going through the books and assumed that I was getting rich. What one didn't realize is the overhead. At that time I had a weekly payroll for 22-25 people. That is a lot of people. Most of that money went for their wages. When you are in business your people get paid whether you do or not. At least that is the way it works for most of us. It can open your eyes when you go from being an employee to an owner.

Well I now work for a very small company here in the UP. The other place I worked for and just quit right before christmas is not even worth my time complaining about them. But this is my if you want to call it my first full day on the job. Picked up my truck last night which the boss man was kind enough to meet me half way. And then I went and picked up my load which does not deliver until Monday down in Charleston SC. Which he planned like that so i could set up the truck with my stuff. Anyhow I got a call today from the real boss at the office *The secretary* Who handles the dispatch and such. And she asked me what Size coat I wear. Seems they are having custom company Jackets made and little lowly me last man hired even gets one. So I was quite shocked. Point being I did not expect something like that.

It's not a matter of whining, he's not my boss and it's not my situation. I was merely making a comment. I've had employees before ( in my last business) and was drawing off of my experience and what I'd do in that situation. It's a matter of greed and his employees see that. It will make a difference in the employees decision making later on.

Like I said even if he would giving hams and turkeys it would make a huge difference. These guys make him money all year, why not take a little from yourself and do something at the holidays. To do otherwise, to me, is being selfish and greedy.

Oh, and I haven't had a boss for 18 years so I promise ya I don't need your "lessons."

That is a nice gesture to offer you a jacket when you just start. Some companies want you to be there are 2 or 3 years before they do that. Some carriers use jackets as a safety bonus. They sound like they are pretty accommodating.
