It must not be easy to wake up one day in your teens, look into the mirror, and say, "Sh!t!! I'm BLACK! And 87% of my fellow countrymen are against me! But, it might be even worse to NOT know to which race one belongs! (As my Anglo/Mexican daughter must think.) And sadder still, is the fact that it even MATTERS!

Personally, I cant imagine what it would be like to wake up everyday as a young black man and hear things like "you are never going to make it in this country" and "87% of the people in this country hate you" from democrats like you. I can imagine that being young and impressionable, many of those young black people actually start believing you democrats. I find that sad.
Ive said this before. I live in a different area, a very GOP area. Like most small towns in the south we have about a 20% population of blacks. The difference in my area is like most people in this area, the blacks tend to be Republicans. I ask you this, Hobo. I have been a member of the GOP for many many years. Im also a member of the RNC and have worked on quite a few GOP campaigns. Why have none of those republican blacks ive worked with in politics complained about racism?
Spend much time in lower class areas do ya?

Sheepdancer said:

I just said the same thing you did, hobo.
No, you didn't.... not even close! In what way do you THINK so?

You said:

I was using the same word he was....JUNKIE.
But if you like, I will call him a junkie.
So, not only did you home in on ONE word he used, but you further took the attitude that, "Okay... I'll CALL him a JUNKIE!"

I won't even waste any more time discussing your lack of English comprehension skills.

The reason I WILL NOT support Obama for anything is NOT because I feel he is a junkie, nor is it because he is black. There are many conservative blacks I would be happy to support. I would never support Obama because he is a far left liberal and a borderline socialist.
Well, I'll give you credit for THIS statement. At least it shows a different rationale. Of course, this thread is NOT about supporting Obama, or not. And "I" have not said that I would support him either. I'll admit that he is a newcomer, and I've not researched his entire platform.

But please, tell me more about his "socailist" platform, and what you find so appalling about it. Do you REALLY understand the concepts of Socialism? Or do you just hate it becuase you were told to?

With skyrocketing medical costs in this country, and especially the cost of medicines (which would be cheaper if Canadian drugs were allowed, or the Bush administration would clamp down on the raping of America by the pharmaceutical companies, notwithstanding a need to limit lawsuits against doctors and hospitals, how does it threaten YOU if Americans can get affordable insurance, or healthcare? YOU may need it someday... and unless you're one of the richest, it could ruin you OR your family.

And I guess you consider public education a form of "socialism." Why should YOU have to pay taxes to educate the masses, when you can do it for your OWN by yourself? Yeah, I've SEEN your form of education. Your example of the LACK of English Comprehension shows it. But, HEY... I bet you know what the BIBLE says about sexual education, right?

Let me clue you in, Sheep. NO one is trying to take your LAND! And NO ONE is trying to take your guns! And nearly EVERY school shooting has happened in a CONSERVATIVE area of the country!!

And what is it with these signs up in the northwest about METH??? Hmmm.... Doesn't seem to BE a problem down here in the South. Who do you think are BUYING this Meth? Conservative White West State youths!!!

But, seriously, I'd like to know what "socialist" agenda you feel Obama is advocating. How is HE a threat to YOUR way of life?

And if the opposite of "socialist" reform, is "faith based initiatives" to what causes have YOU contributed? Not just your LOCAL ones, but those which aid the needy in OTHER parts of the country? Or do you ONLY care about your little "white bread" corner of the World?

This is just too good to pass up. Do you know why that young black man would think that?

Yes, I DO! Because I talk with them more often than YOU do about it!

Not because its true. BECAUSE THAT IS EXACLTY WHAT LIBERALS LIKE YOU KEEP TELLING HIM!

More of the same bullsh!t from Conservatives! Now you are blaming the Black for BEING Black, and the Liberal for telling him something he allready knows!

Reality, racism just isnt that big of an issue in the business world anymore.

Obviously, YOU have never seen a line of Black men trying to get a job where the employer uses EVERY excuse that he can LEGALLY use to avoid hiring him!

Racism is more of a lower class issue.

And, thanks to Dubya, there is no more "middle class." So, it's all YOU rich upper class or it's a "lower class issue!"

The lower class whites spew racism to blame others for their own failures. The lower class blacks blame racism for their own personal failures.

You OBVIOUSLY have never been out of your corner of the World, right? These are "talking points" right off the Limbaugh show! Your "class arrogance" is blazing! You can blame anyone and everyone for not "making it" in this world! Must really ease your "Compassionate Conservative" conscience!

Now pay attention, this is important. RACE NO LONGER HOLDS ANYONE BACK IN THIS COUNTRY.

What country are YOU living in?

Its time to quit using it as an excuse.

Tell THAT to the one doing the HIRING!

These remarks are disingenuous. I understand your point, but we are not telling them something they are not seeing on a daily basis. And they are NOT blaming "US" Democrats for telling them that Republican business owners don't want to HIRE them, but of course, can't tell them the TRUE reason for it!

Ive said this before. I live in a different area, a very GOP area.

And as such, you have NO idea what it is like in NON GOP areas...

Like most small towns in the south we have about a 20% population of blacks.

This shows how LITTLE you know about the South... where the population can often be 60% Blacks.... MOST of them unemployed!

I believe you are GENUINE in your telling of your experience with the Blacks in your area. However, if YOU were a Black man, in a conservative area, who HAS a job, would YOU bite the hand that feeds you?

In other words, it would NOT be to their advantage to belabor the plight of their fellow (black) man, in an area where there are FEW protections for them, and they could easily lose their jobs. I'm not saying THIS is what is happening, but I can SEE it happening. Kind of reminds me of the "step and fetch" mentality of the Old South.

If I were a JEW in "prewar" Germany... I might vote for, or at least support verbally, the "party" that kept me in a job to feed my family, and curse them ONLY at home around the dinner table! Do you get my drift?

Look, Sheepdancer. We BOTH know that there are Blacks who are conservative as well as liberal. (Maybe 2% of the 13% of the population.) No reason to debate THIS issue. YOU use it as a validation of YOUR viewpoint, I see it as an anomaly based on situational politics.

You've obviously never lived in, and therefore have no idea of, the socio-economic realities of the South and many big cities. YOUR forefathers came into America largely by the St. Lawrence river, and settled lands out west. They worked HARD for what they have, and I applaud them and YOU for it. Most Democratic families are from Immigrants OR from the original Slave owners of Dixie. We feel it is our duty to see that they have an equal chance, having come from nothing.

You care about nothing but your OWN. WE care about those who are still struggling for the American Dream. In the Bible, Jesus says, "I came to you THREE times. I was hungry and you gave me to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was cold, and you gave me shelter."

"What does it profit a man who has ALL, but gives nothing?" You can't take it with you. I will give everything I have, and more, if that is what God asks of me. My treasures are laid up in Heaven. Yours are what you can lay title to here on Earth.

THAT is the major difference between Conservatives and Liberals.

You can sugar coat it any way you like, but that is the Gospel. Democrats/Liberals understand the American Dream.... Conservative think they "OWN" it.

To BLAME someone in America for not having what you probably inherited, is the epitomy of "Class Warfare." A Feudalistic mentality left over from the country that we fought a Revoluton against!

I can't find it in my heart to really BLAME you. After all, you're just a descendant of an immigrant who got a "free pass" to settle the untamed West at a time when the country needed your tax payments. The fact that you now want to evade them is not unsurprising. After all, YOU didn't lose an ancestor in the Revolution, or the Civil War for this country.

I'm sure if I listen real hard, I can learn SOMETHING from you about the sacrifice required to make this the Land of the Free and the EQUAL!

But, don't MAKE me have to hear it from Rush!

Hobo

Once again...I dont listen to Rush. If I sound like him its probably because we are both conservative. I could tell you that you sound just like Rosie Odonell. Would that mean you listen to her everyday, or perhaps you just share her messed up views.

The middle class is gone?????? Where did it go? Im middle class, everyone I know is middle class....I thought we all disappeared. The disappearing middle class is a liberal urban legend. Its just not happening.
Go outside, look around.....see everyone driving out there on the road....THEY ARE ALMOST ALL MIDDLE CLASS. Right now the % of people in poverty is around 12%. Do you know what the average % of people in poverty is since the 1940s? 12%! It fluctuates a little but it pretty much stays right around 12% no matter what social programs we create. The simple fact is that we live in a free country and in a free country people are free to make stupid choices. Therefore about 12% of the population will remain below poverty level. The good news is that in this country our poor live better than the middle class of most countries.

Now....you are saying the racism is there for people who do the hiring. Is that so? Here is a shocker. Remember what I do for a living? Im a recruiter. I HIRE PEOPLE. Oh no....I hire people and I am a RABID CONSERVATIVE. By your liberal theory I must be practicing racism. The fact is I hire anyone of any race. Why is that? Also FYI, before Driver recruiting Ive worked in corporate recruiting and human resources for a long time. In the many fortune 500 companies Ive worked for Ive never seen race as an issue for hiring someone. Business people are going to hire the person with the greatest ability to generate profit no matter what the race.

Why should I as an employer have to employ blacks?

Why should I as an employer have to employ women?

But if I as an employer only want to employ blacks and women and not white men why is that not rasit?

Mack2: Same answer to all three questions. Google EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.)

There is equal opportunity and there is going overboard.
I dont think Hooters should be forced to hire overweight men as weight staff.
I dont think airlines should be forced to hire handicapped flight attendants in wheelchairs.
I dont think that a rap record store in the inner city that has generally african american customers should be forced to hire a white guy.
And on that same note. If there is some strange redneck store in Dipspit Alabama that only sells white sheets and rebel flags,I dont think the gov should be able to tell them that they have to hire an african american.
Trust the free market, this isnt the 50s. A successful business doesnt need to be told who they can or cannot hire. You need to market your business to all people otherwise the business would fail and that problem will be solved.

Just to restate what you just posted, Sheepdancer, cause I agree with you, everyone has their right at getting their foot in the door, but if they don't qualify for the position, they can't get the job.

With this recent deal with Barack Obama, the meda was questioning whether Barack was "black enough" to be a black american president. And all Rush Limbaugh did was make fun of Al Sharpton and David Ehrenstein by using what they said and putting it to a tune. This has no comparison to the Don Imus 3. By the way, why is everyone using that phrase on the CB now? Hm.

Well, SD, when you refer to going OVERBOARD, I have to agree with you. And since you gave nothing BUT overboard examples, I can't.

As for Hooters, though, I once was served by a young lady in the "usual" costume who was about 8 months pregnant! I found it extremely tasteless!

As for the airlines.... no, your example wouldn't be practical. But, like all companies of a certain size, they DO have to make their workplace "accessible" to handicapped persons. There is no reason that a man in a wheelchair can't handle the ticketing duties. But, they had to be FORCED into it by the government, or that man would be sitting at home collecting YOUR tax money as disability.

As for the rap music store, I believe they fall below the required number of employees to be so "regulated."

And there is no need to force the "rebel flag" store in Alabama to hire a black man, as it is highly unlikely one would apply there.

But then, such OBVIOUS exemptions probably wouldn't occur to you.

You're right! This ISN'T the 50's. But, without the EEOC, it very well COULD be! But, back then, we DID "trust" the free market, and it FAILED us in that it WAS discriminatory! Probably because of conservatives like you.

Lincoln thought he had solved all these problems by emancipating the slaves. Bush thought the Mission was "accomplished" a few years ago!

Both cases show the "idealistic" nature of the Executive Branch and its leader. And validate the need for the Legislative Branch and its "supposed" representation of the will of the people.

Of course, since then, the Legislative Branch has been raped and controlled by special interest groups from BOTH sides, and no one gets what they paid for!

So, next it is up to the Judicial Branch to settle the disputes. But, THEY are appointed by, manipulated by, and in some cases (like Scalia) BOUGHT by, those in the Executive Branch who have an agenda to fulfill, instead of a DUTY to lead and represent the people.

The American experiment is OVER. We are now a mix of the Monarchy of Britain, the Politburo and KGB of the old Soviet Union, and the Population control policies of China. With a little Class Arrogance of South Africa thrown in.

And, IMHO, we have the Conservatives and the Moral Majority to thank for it. Of course, some will say that the alternative is a Socialist country governed by the Liberal Democrats. This MAY be so. I can't debate the possibility.

But, I'm a rational man. More conservative than some of you might give me credit for. Sometimes, I just play the Devil's advocate to remind you of the principles this country was founded on.

If the Liberals are as weak as you insist they are, we could always reverse things a bit. But, if the conservatives are as strong as they claim to be, we have no choice but to be controlled by them. If you know your History, and I'm not saying you don't, you will see where the danger lies.
