I'd be more worried about a terrorist nuke in the U.S. that Iran even getting their hands on one. Israel knows where they stand with them. They won't let it ever get to that point. I hate to say it, but the Mossad is a far better intelligence organization than the CIA and they are unfettered by political correctness. In addition, Israel doesn't give a damn what other countries think about them. They'll know where Iran is in their program and they'll act, with or without world support.

Which is the way it should be.......CIA? U.S. Intelligence? Now thats laughable. I do believe Israel will do what it needs to do without regard for what the world thinks...good for them.

I agree completely with ALL of this. And, in part, that is why I don't share the tinfoil hat that the "They're gonna nuke us" crowd wears. Remember, we weren't talking about dirty bombs on U.S. streets, nor even them GETTING a nuke. We were debating whether WE (or the Brits) should NUKE THEM over a minor hostage incident.

Again, you are not understanding the fanatical mindset of the people over there.
T/F, since I know your "style" on this board, I don't take offense to that statement. But, I must beg to differ. I don't know everything about them, but I think spending the better part of 8 years monitoring, collecting, and analyzing intelligence on this part of the world puts me, at least, a step above "guessing."

I MAY be wrong about what they will or will not do.... and so might you. I would hope that we DON'T let them get nukes. But, I can't buy into the hysteria of some here that want to settle ALL our disputes with Islamic Fundamentalists or terrorists by unleashing the devastation of a nuclear weapon.

Nor can I stomach the racism and arrogance of those who disrespect ALL Arabs, Persians, and Muslims. Didn't we kill enough innocent Germans in WWII, trying to kill their leader? For Christ's sake, people! Give the Mossad a bullet and a vantage point on this guy.... and MOST of our problems will be over!

Still, regardless of all that, if we were to get attacked by a nuke, do you honestly believe we'd have the brass cajones to retaliate with nukes? Bush might, simply because he's allegedly a "buckaroo". Congress, however, would wet their pants.
Yes... I DO! The current protocol, and hightened state of readiness, would dictate JUST THAT. Our "retaliation" would be launched on standing orders (with or without the President's signal) before the first nuke hits our soil, or Congress ever became aware of it.

My personal feelings are that it's only a matter of time before we suffer a nuclear attack. And when we do, we'll watch in utter disbelief as our government forces our politically correct capitulation to whoever our attacker is, be it a country or a terrorist state.
That would make an interesting movie.... but I don't see it happening. Our current belief is that, at least SOME of our forces, especially those overseas, would survive and have a job to do. That job will be easier if we have crippled our attackers, as well. It would be a horrible event, no doubt. But, we have plans to survive and WIN such a conflict. To the Victor go the spoils. And the world would be nothing LESS than "spoiled." But, we know we must and will prevail. And whatever you think of Clinton, Carter or the rest.... be assured that the President knows his duty.... and will do it without much more than a moment's thought.
