What's up guys? As I say in my profile, I just started looking into trucking because I've heard very good things about North Dakota and I've always wanted to get in one of those big rigs. I want to start my own company one day and I think this is a great way to get the capital I need and see some country in the meantime (I live in Raleigh, NC currently). I need a CDL first. I'm 27, finally graduated college last December, and I'm ready for adventure before I get tied down to a woman! Any feedback is welcome. If you can point me to a company that's been proven a safe bet for happy trucking up in ND, let me know.

Thanks for all your info through this thread. Are you still hauling gas? Do co's like yours want specific experience in that to get hired?
I'm CDL Hazmat, Doubles-Triples, Tankers. Experience is logging (25 yrs.--logs, lowbed, water trucks, equipment--lots of snow and ice, etc.) and construction (truck and pup, end dump, water truck loading @hydrants, pto, stationary pumps, etc.). Also loaders, dozers, skidders, yarders, etc.

Good logging contractor friend of mine working on the OneOK pipeline (runs 140H blade), seems to like it ok--it's just different working for somebody besides himself, he says.

Yes the stories are true. I had a friend in north Dakota and got all the information about trucking jobs availibility in here and guess what? The state is running low on truck drivers. And as soon as I heard, I didnt waited for anything and moved to Dakota as I wasn't getting enough hours to feed my family. I have a pretty good job in here now. I make $70k annually. North Dakota is a better place to make money for truck drivers.
