lifeguard, I was a contractor in CA for WAAAAAY too long. Now in South Dakota since that is how close my friends house was, and sitting empty and rent free. Just got my CDL with all endorsments a couple months ago, no real experience yet. Any idea where to start up there in North Dakota? I was in Williston last November and packed up i December. My family thought I was literally crazy to leave such a "nice socialist state" as CA...lol I am sure the new smog laws (AB32) will kill what little is left of CA.

I think your best bet will be one of the staffing agencies up here. Having no real combination experience will be tough. But, I have heard of more than a few guys getting hired on with no experience through these staffing agencies up here. And there is always hot shot work and vacuum trucks that only require a class B license. Try Hurley's in Fairview MT, they are always hiring and have housing. Phone 406-742-5312

Anybody know when the best time of year is to look for work driving in ND?? I am looking into CDL School later this fall and hoping to get on board with all the work going on in the Bakken. I need to stay in Oregon for a short time (family obligations) and after school can get some experience driving before heading to ND. Any advice on when it is best to head to ND looking for a driving job with little/no experience?? Thanks much for all the info.

Read your thread from a yr ago about your company are they still looking for drivers? Owned and operated a coffe buisness for the last 10 yrs just recently sold looking to get back to driving & hopefully make some of the money you were talking about. Any way thanks for the response. Hey Justruckin, I just started working about 2 weeks ago in ND. I wanted to stop by and thank you for all the info you posted in this thread. I picked up with a small o/o company hauling gravel and water. Its been great except for the rain the past 2 days as it was not good for the gravel hauls. I trained on the production water hauls instead since the gravel runs came to a halt. I applied to a lot of the companies that was listed in this thread, and even with 16 years experience I got no return calls until I hooked up with this small company. We'll see after a year of exp. in the patch if that will change as I gave a 1 year commitment. I look forward to the snow and ice as it will be scary fun and since there is none in Hawaii lol... Mahalo and Aloha

Officially got my hazmat, now I have all necessary endorsements for oilfield. Sent off two apps already for Falco and for Concord. Been thinking about MBI as well. Seems like everyone on Craigslist wants an "MBI-trained driver" ... However, I must say I'm a little weary of signing a year long contract with an employer...I'm not scared of busting my ass one bit, so other than a contract I'll do anything that pays good money. Any thoughts on the big name companies vs the smaller outfits? Pros and cons?

Default MBI Driver Review

This is the very best thread of information on the web about trucking in the ND oilfields. Much thanks! Especially to Justruckin. I just had a Skype interview with MBI and I was told that I would qualify as a crude oil driver. Can anyone give a review of the company? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
