I forgot to add that a buddy of mine at Stevens transport who is a trainer sat in a log class. To see what they were telling the students. The instructor was talking about the qualcom and asked my friend for his truck number. When they pulled it up and tried to locate it. It showed the truck was 3-4 blocks over in a residential neighborhood. The truck was actually next to the classroom building.
After he told me that I was a little bit more assured that some of this info they are handing out is laced with bs. But then again. There are different levels that companies pay qualcom for service. I would assume that the tracking ability or needs could vary from one company to the next. Dang things are more of a pain anyway. I really hate it when they expect us to bail to the side of the road for a message then tell us we shouldnot pull to the shoulder or a ramp. But then we are asked why don't we respond to our messages faster.
I've already told them if I'm in Los Angeles forget about me responding. There is no location to pull off the road and then get back on safely in LA traffic. I'll get to them when I get stopped at shiper/receiver or a yard.

I really miss Davis Transport and no qualcom!People were so nice too

Yes the people were nice ...... even the yard Nazi. :-) I do use Qualcomm at my company but they haven't use it as weapon against me.

If you ever want to get back into flatbedding and being over the OTR, we have a couple drivers from SoCal. You would fit in here.

Cheers,

Wow, I have missed your messages here.

BTW, I passed thru CDA Thursday at noon and SAGE yard looked empty. There was a lone dump truck behind the building, but no cars in front. The sign was still up out on I-90. Do you know what's up with that?

I ask cuz I have a friend in Spokane with a CDL B(school bus driver) who thinking to run in the summertime with his son who owns a truck. For insurance purposes he would probably have to formally upgrade his license. He and I were talking about the training at SAGE.

Miss the GREAT M&M cookies. Thanks again ...... YUMM!

Aww thanks Danske! I wish I could put a blushing smiling face on but the faces are not an option for me for some reason! So know that I blushed!

Sage moved. Will is no longer there and all the trainers from what have heard left with him. I know hubby stopped by before they moved and Will had already left. About a week ago I spoke with someone who had come to pump our septic and he also got his CDL from Sage and gave me the low down.

He said Will had a better job offer and took the trainers with him. I hope he likes were he is and is doing well! He really stood behind my husband when the chips were down. I will always remember his kindness.

I believe Sage is up in Hayden somewhere. I have no idea how the school is anymore up here. I rarely see the training trucks out on the road anymore. And I have not heard anything about the new person running Sage or the new trainers.

I hope all is going well for you and maybe sometime I will have to get some more cookies to you!

I stopped by Sage once after Will and crew left. I just didn't know the school moved.

Thanks for offer on cookies. Maybe I can take you up on the offer sometimes.

So you got to enjoy a semi-regular sleep pattern? Thats one of the things I hated about OTR was the extremely odd hours... expected to drive all night after being up all day.

I remember when I drove a dry van and delivered to the big box DC's you could arrive late at night for a early morning live(not hand) unload. I would check in, park in the staging area, then receive a dock several hours later(on the other side of the warehouse). I bump the dock and go back to sleep. When the dock workers were done, I go back to the staging to finish my break. I guess with a tell all QC/EOBR will eliminate that, but not make me more productive.
Hi Danske,
I had this same situation happened. I went to the Costco on Sherman in Tolleson. arrived at 2045 for my 0630 appt. I parked in line at the gate... maybe 5th in line, and went to speak with the other drivers. They told me the procedures... we can park here and at 0230am they knock on the door and we move to the staging area or we get a dock.....
well... guess i get a company violation for HOS but at least im not late..... what a catch 22 ! and it was one of my last runs.....

Yep....my last run....
as of monday im local... I'll be running the containers out of the rail yards here in So. Cal.
Home everynight sleeping in my bed at home....ahhhhhhhhh...

Yep flatbedders dont back up and we sleep pretty good. The only downsize is the tarping in the elements.

I guess it just depends on your FM or if your an O/Op then you can make your own appt times. The only reason I could see with messing with sleep would be to get through a big city. Flatbedders dont have much of a waiting time for lumpers since we only deal with forklifts or cranes.
