So.... ummm yea.. Havent updated in awhile...
Lets see, working backwards....
Asked to run to WA with a load out of my normal run area. If I did so I could move into a new truck.. Heck ya. But as long as theres a load to get me south... Sure no problem.
Moved into a 2010 Cascadia with 52k on it. I can still smell that new car smell:thumbsup::thumbsup:...... From what i'm hearing the truck is two heavy to pull loads out of WA so its coming down to So-cal regional fleet. From what I've seen most of the loads I've pulled are maybe 30k max. some heavier most lighter..
Well I'm sitting here in WA. yep No loads...
issedoff::ranting::fire:
issedoff: nothing till monday from what I can see on the JB available loads and on other load boards. Not that I dont belive them.... I like to checkout landstars load board to verify it.
I normally dont sit and I'm home on friday nights or sat mornings, which has been pretty cool. 3 times ive had runs that will keep me out and drop/hook over the weekend but I'm asked or suggested  that I run them. So to keep my paycheck from going down the :toilet: I just deal with it.
So the big question I guess everyone would like to know.... Is is a good company. Yea they are okay, dont piss anyone off, be nice, smile, look professional, wear clean clothes dont stink have your hair cut, shave your face etc....
I dont like the JIT stuff, Dont like that you are given a load with minimal time to get it there. They dont take into account LA traffic. They dont like it when you deviate from your routing.... told to head east on 91 on friday rush hour... sorry im heading east on the least messed up hwy... be it 60 or 10. and if im in lost hills at the pilot for fuel and its 2pm.... im not heading to phoenix via 5-210-57-60-10, Im hitting 46-99-58-395-15-210-10 and missing all that LA nightmare!
If you question the time...and say it will take an addional hour to get there.... they think they know better...
Qualcom is tracking all the time..... You start the motor and press the brake release. your pinged, your log better match that start time. you cant avg your speed/miles with this company. plain and simple log as you drive it.... They are very safety driven...
I miss flatbedding, I miss my old runs with Arrow... yea I said it.... Arrow... I'm to the point of looking to purchase my own truck. Gotten word of a spot that is local and I can make good money if I own my own day cab and run there trailer with forklift. and its flatbed, home everynight and I can skip out early and grab a trailer or container locally if I want to also. We'll see.
check back later and see what I started.

Let see, I was at the Iowa-80 truckstop. Last night I parked but the location wasn't very good connecting to their WiFi, so this morning I moved the truck closer to the building for a better signal. So I guess according to your company rules my log should have started then not the 2 hours later when I left the truckstop?Originally Posted by dewercs2

Or how about the other night when I dropped my trailer at the customer's yard and bobtailed back into town(9 miles roundtrip) to go to the supermarket and eat at a Chinese restaurant. I used my company truck as a personal convenance(yes I am not an O/O). According to your company rules my log should have stopped when I returned to customer's yard?
Can't see how my above examples compromised safety. In fact, I would say it increased my comfort and better prepared me to drive when I was on-duty.
Why do you need a paper log when the QualComm it is the authoritize device? May as well let the QC be the EOBR.

Ummmmmmmm....QC pretty much qualifies as an EOBR...when they make all trucks have an EOBR. There is an option for driving off-duty on the QC, that allows you to bob-tail as far as you care to bob-tail.
Moving your truck at the truckstop, under 7/10th's of a mile, does not activate DOT hours on the QC.

Dewercs2 stated that at his company that if the engine is running and the brakes are released then the QC updates the company and his log must match. So I guess that means that if your truck isn't parked correctly(eg. blocking another truck; who has done that once?) and you must move back/forth a little, that could be a HOS violation.Originally Posted by Orangetxguy

I remember when I drove a dry van and delivered to the big box DC's you could arrive late at night for a early morning live(not hand) unload. I would check in, park in the staging area, then receive a dock several hours later(on the other side of the warehouse). I bump the dock and go back to sleep. When the dock workers were done, I go back to the staging to finish my break. I guess with a tell all QC/EOBR will eliminate that, but not make me more productive.

Mon fri. 5 or 6am. Start and 3,4 or 5 pm. Drops or vice versa of course there was always the chance to get offloaded/loaded earlier or later and sometimes on a Saturday in the morning. Almost never did a pickup at 10pm or midnight. That's what I meant to say.Originally Posted by rigidsporty

Hi danske! Yea I tried the bobtailing to the store after I was in the yard and was done running for theP night. They told me I had not placed myself on driving for the 30 minutes it took for me to drive grab some stuff and get back to the yard. Originally Posted by danske

Funny thing you meantioned personel conveyance. I heard that on landline now the other night. I need to look that up.
Also you know how if we are in one city and we can just go onto line 4 and show as local. I tried that here. Told nope I'm not a local driver and was given some points for not logging actual drive time. I tired to argue it but was told no don't ever do it. Points aren't too bad. 40 points in a month gets you a log letter. 4 log letters your pretty much gone. Worse I've gotten is maybe 20-25 points.
Now the brake kinda gets me too. I arrive at shipper and set the brake. Flag I've arrived on log and obc. Then move to door like you said. I haven't seen anything come up. But I have seen if I start driving at 13:35 and try to save myself 15mins and show I started at 13:45 you get tagged.
Fueling got me for awhile. Pull up to pilot and put myself offduty not driving, wait for the guy who pulled forward and went in and spent 30 mins shopping them comes out and leaves so the guy in front of me pulls out from fueling and goes in. Now I get the pump maybe 30 mins since I ve been waiting. I pull out 10 mins later and head out. I flag myself 15 mins fueling and 30 minutes offduty. I got popped for not logging fuel time right. So since I'm stuck waiting for this guy to move I have to stay on duty driving. Burning my drive hrs.
