I used to work for Marten Transport.I was suprised at how together they were as far as pay+how they ran their whole company.
Qual comm can be used while driving+idle can be set w/ the cruise contrl/not the lame opti deals most other companies use. That turn off+on etc.. Then again I didnt have a Tri- Pack on my truck when I worked for them.Last December of 07. They paid .39 cent to start for me, and I got good miles,2500-3600 per week.Their home policy is mayber the best with 1 day off for 5 days out.So Id do 15 days out and get 3 days at home. The are very good at getting their drivers home too. If you get assigned a dispatcher named Julie Chipan. SWITCH!! to another one as soon as you can. She is a complete psyco bitch from hell! I thought maybe it was just me but I asked 4 other drivers there + w/out really saying her name+ just dicribing her, they all said" Yeah Julie the cunt." Other than that I requested for a 387 pete before they flew me out to forest park,Ga for orientation + got a clean one. Warning!!!!they will make you sign an agreement that you''ll have to pay for all expenses as far as plane ticket+ incurred motel expenses at orientation If you quit before 6 months with them. They basically take it out of you last check. Other than that I think They are probably the best OTR company I ever worked for+I have 10 years OTR exp.with a bunch of other companies out here. Just thought Id share my exp w/Marten here.Good Luck.

Hey TK,
I know alot of my post here are a bit negative, but I have to say that Marten transport was probably one of the best I drove for. They keep every word they said with me and thats hard to say about most OTR companies out here. Ive worked for alot of carriers out here. I left them last December 07 due to some personal issues that required me to move to Florida. Well I wasnt aware that Marten trans wont hire or re-hire Florida drivers til after I was ready to come back to work. Its Randys new policy these days not to hire from here, not sure why? So thats how it went for me. I really miss working for them and would come back to them if I could. I liked that if one didnt like the dispatcher he was assigned, you could just switch to another one w/out any problems. And the "no-chain policy"aswell. They are what every company should model after in my opinion. Randy Marten runs an honest trucking company for as big as they are and it showed. I was treated very good with them+They always paid layover pay and detention pay without me ever asking for it like clockwork. Unlike some other companies who you have to bug them about it.Because they just plain want to rip you off or forget. Cant really say anything bad about Marten and trust me I can say alot of things from my exp with alot of other companies I have worked for in my past of 10 years. Just wondering but how are the high fuel prices effecting company drivers there? Are they making drivers idle less?Or just maybe making more Tripacs available in all their trucks etc?? I have been out of a big truck for a few months. Just wonder whats going on for company drivers on the road in general? How long have you been with Marten? Well thx for the reply Bud.Its always good to hear from a Marten bluebird on here.Keep on truckin! |
