Im amazed that you can come up with a program where you will be making 54cpm for some of the miles you are driving and people will still try to find something wrong with it.

Wait here is the fine print.

if you dont like the green mile program Heartland offers and 54cpm, you are welcome to drive for someone else and make 36cpm for the same miles driven
But the real secret is how many miles will you really drive...because they don't pay Practical Miles....I understand its an aberrant form of HHG....really short miles, that in reality results in the driver making way less than they would think they are.

But you are right.... 8) Its like they say....one person's "silk purse" is another's pile of :dung: ....

What the company I used to pull for would do is send me a pre-plan with the mileage, appt times, etc that I would have to accept or decline based on my available hours. Then they would send me the actual load.

So like a fool I would empty out in a big city and have no place to park because the receiver wanted me off their property and the idiots I pulled for didn't send me a pre-plan for my next load. Then I would drive around aimlessly hoping for a spot to pull into like a Wal-Mart or something where I could park...but normally I would get back on the freeway and try to get to a truckstop. All that wasted time and an hour later they would send me the pre-plan...which was a few miles down from where I originally emptied out.

Two hours unpaid dock time getting unloaded, another unpaid hour driving around waiting for a pre-plan. Driving back to the shipper unpaid (love those HHG miles!)...another 1-2 hours waiting to get loaded....logging it all on lines 1 & 2...OTR SUCKS!!!

And so it is with 99% of the OTR companies. Thankfully we don't deal with that with Chemical Tankers....they always tell us where to go... Actually, after unloading....its straight to a tankwash. And then its "clock time" or a drop and hook and go again..... 8)

I like your avatar..... You ever try "Brugal"? Good stuff! arty:

I guess the commenter....not "Smooth", doesn't understand that because the Teamsters Union management "endorses" a candidate....doesn't mean the rank and file are going to follow suit. I would have to say that the Teamsters are no more individually beholden to one candidate over the other than say the AFL-CIO rank and file. The Union leadership could endorse anything they wanted....the members did what they wanted. 8) I know I did 8)

Of course you wait as a local driver , except you make $20 plus an hour as opposed to nothing if you are OTR .

My point was that the fellow who wrote this:

Bumper wrote:

Is making an erroneous statement.
