Last year as a solo driver i made a few dollars if you averaged it out from jan 1 to dec 31 i was away from the house 263 days I averaged enuff per hour to make it nice and comfi.. Now here are the real benifits 1. Wife is a good woman But time away is bliss (33 years married) 2. I do not have to see any of my adult kids 3. No one to pester me except the phone (i just turn it off) 4. Its like a vacation for 10 days... 5. I work 9.5 hours a day for 10 days. Then i am off 3 days. So we agree to disagree.. One mans pleasure is another mans grind. I have done the local thing. Made 54k at it 4 years ago. You can keep it the traffic, boss ripin on you all the time, more traffic, 16 hour days by the time you drive to and from work. To many daily hassels. In Retro spec you stay there we will deliver the frieght i shudder just thinking about it, I will give you one thing when you have small kids its good to be home to help change diapers and help the wife out in the long run she will apperciate the help. And you might just grow up a bit in the whole child raiseing process. (not a slander)

Your talking to a local driver remember....he doesnt know anything about OTR driving.
He loads his little brown truck up, drives to peoples houses, drops a package on their doorstep, rings the bell and then goes on to the next house. Pays his union dues every month and will vote for barrack bin ladin because the teamsters told him to.
