Best OTR jobs in the industry???
Hey guys, I follow the forums here just about everyday and I read alot about good starter companies and coolie carriers, but I am interested in what you think are really the outstanding jobs in trucking. They can be private fleets, whatever...... I just want to know about the best. When i say "THE BEST" I am talking about pay, benefits, and overall driver respect and satisfaction. I hope maybe this will bring to light some of the rare jewels and show some of us what kinda opportunities are out there. Thanks!

I wish we could really keep the LTL companies out of this. Notice I did say OTR in the title. I know many of the LTL companies are outstanding employers, but I would like to keep this focus on OTR companies. Thanks.

Private fleets are about as good as it gets when talking OTR. Walmart seems to have figured out how to treat its drivers right. I hear pretty good things about Tyson Foods too.

Ace hardware has a great benny package, but you go to each little store each in its own little town and unload. Sounded good but a little to much work for my old back. I think they require 2 yr exp

Yeah... I too hear good things about the private fleets myself. I am familiar with Walmart, Tyson, and I have also heard great things about Ashley Furniture. Anyone have any more info on these private fleets or others feel free to fill us in on the info.

Actually it's not a bad gig. You use a floor jack and a lift gate to get it down. Then it is up to the store to get it inside and unlload. Very little lifting, if any.

I talked to quite a few happy drivers for Raven Trans out of Jax, but this was back in 2003.

Simonton, Andersen Windows. Safeway Groceries has a huge operation in the NW. They were featured on the history channel. As greg3564 said Wal-Mart is a good OTR gig.
My father in law drives OTR for a window manufacturer out of Toledo, OH making 100K/year. He has been there for 17 years and it took 3 years of phone calls to get that job. He gets paid for everything he does.
From what I can gather, if you can drive for a private fleet or directly for a manufacturer, then you have a good OTR job.

Rite Aid, CVS, GNC(very good pay and benifits) are all good private fleets if they have a DC in your area.
