Things have changed..

Today the company I work for announced they are lowering the trucks to 66 (down from 68-70) to cut cost...

1900 miles is the best week in 2 months..now they are neutering the rigs..

Oh well,

Now I can seek employment elsewhere with no regrets ...
nothing left to lose by leaving.

I'll admit ..the fast nice trucks had me spoiled rotten..

but then good things never last,

It was the nice fast trucks that drew me to Millis... now thats gone

time to call Schaffer or Kennesaw ...or Crete..or ...or ?

Hmmm

Trucking is still a good job ....
Crete.....I believe they are set to 65....Schaffer, probably the same. Kennesaw maybe faster...but they are team, aren't they?

I can understand why you are looking to leave.....but rather than make "truck speed" a priority.....why not focus on "pay and benefits"? Maybe get your tanker and hazmat and go that route.....pays better, probably better benefits as well.

On the other hand....if you want lots of miles, a fast truck, and aren't that concerned about "money"....get a tanker endorsement and call Bynum or Indian River....
I am hoping to get closer to home (Southeast region) and take my dog.
Its about that simple...a man...a dog..and a truck...
the lady that was keeping him for me while I was OTR had a brain blood vessel problem and cannot look after him any longer.

I like Schaffer but need to converse with headborg a little more ...
Kennesaw also wants to chat with me....they run solo as far as Kansas
from what their drivers tell me...their trucks run 70 last I heard.

I got the experience and a good safety record so its just a matter of finding one that fits....

not a prob 8)

I do recruit for Shaffer, however right now they still have a freeze on hiring. I think its supposed to open back up in March when they buy a bunch of new trucks.
Ive been putting a bunch of drivers on Arnold out of GA for the SE regional. They all seem really happy so far.
Also Arnold allows pets.

Them ther "container type tanks" are called ISO tubs..and they can be tricky, if you don't drive right.

Hey Orangetxguy, what company is it you drive for? You guys are smart staying away from the flatbeds! My dad used to always make me tarp and untarp his loads whenever he loaded here locally. He pretty much taught me load securement the old fashioned way! I learned real quick that flatbed trucking is alot of work. Still, I would rather flatbed, than pull a van, but I think tanking is good fit for me.

I know Advance Auto, at least around here, used to be Parts America until about ten years back. And their trucks are all Volvos, from what I've seen...

I'm leased into Miller Transporters. I've pulled tanks, except for one 3 year period, since 1979. 02 through 05 I pulled flat/stepdeck, trying to get something going with family....never go into business with family.   At least with flats, you get a decent work out.
