Trip#1:

Macon, Ga- Russellville, AL deadhead= 339 miles

Russellville, AL- Memphis, TN to drop= 164 miles

Fun thing, seriously considering/ even placed my 2nd application in at Poly Trucking( still waiting on that call)....after the load from Maine(Hell).
In several previous posts I stated I was very pleased with Shaffer's freight- than in 3 years I had never- not once- had a load of fresh 'chicken' guts or had to wash out a stinking trailer that had blood & gutts from hauling said. Well, this is what I just picked up in Russellville, AL fortunately I dropped it in Memphis-- but, is this a bad sign? of future things to come? has the ecomomy gotten so bad-- or is this the new Shaffer freight I can look forward too if I stay? Where is the Easter candy? where was the Valentine's Day Candy?

when I arrive at Memphis drop lot-- I find the perfect load that's a win-win and end up running up to Bentonville, Ar
load#2
Memphis, Tn- Bentonville, Ar LM= 343

So, running total before hometime this week= 846

If I can swing another 800 Thursday-Friday-- might have a 1600 total - 4 days home. Maybe, I can get the dentist appointment moved up too.
Since Jan 1 '08 I have only gone past 2000 miles twice.... Things are really looking bad....any hope at this point is an escape from the fact.

Who do you drive for Zip? Did you come over here to Shaffer recently?

@Zip I see you've done some editing...don't worry..I won't tell-- I saw it earlier-- so, are you doing their training program? how is it?

Kennesaw doesn't/didn't look too bad last time I checked on them-- they run a lot of Ga- Ca freight? but, not sure if they let the solo go all the way to the left coast with it.

Week#10 Final Figures:

Well, went home with 846 in the bank--

was late getting my rear loaded & out the driveway Thursday-

but, managed 194DH to Pine Bluff,Ar
then 417 loaded to Iola, Ks.

So, that puts the weeks total to: 1457 with ~ 4 days home in the middle.
Not great but expectable considering I live in the middle of the country.

Week#11
March 14-21st

I start this week off finishing up the little load to Iola,Ks-

I wake up to a qualcom message from Acme maintenance -- that "their records show my truck is currently 12,324 miles overdue for B-Service.
To go directly to a terminal, do not pass GO, and get it done. So, when I send my empty message- I send a little message telling the next travel agent that We need to plan a whole day with the nuckle heads so I can get my Brakes and A/C fixed too.

To which, I get a ld assignment straight to my truck- no "offer" just the direct
ld info.

Iola, Ks-- Ruther Glen, Va 1188 for Monday Morning.

Then I'm asked if Indy or Columbus is n route. To which I reply isn't. But,
KC is close enough.

At 5pm I pull into KC- drop my trailer and check-in with the service writer-- He asks if I'm prepared to wait until Monday "sometime"-- to which I respond that I was instructed to head straight to a shop--
to which he responds-- it wasn't his problem

to which I respond--- there's no way in hell I'm setting all weekend for a oil change, See Ya, and that's the reason right there that the truck is currently 12,000 miles overdue on service.

If it had been NK- they've always wanted me to "schedule" a appointment- 2 to 3 days in advance- really, the only Blue trucks that get "johnny on the spot" service out of NK- are the one's that pitch em the keys- call the wife or drive home(near by) and simply wait for the phone to ring.

There's only 3 terminals in the Crete/Shaffer system that I've had any luck with getting --fast & good quality service at.

Indianapolis
Lincoln(imagine that)
York( always begging for work)

Now, I've heard tell that Spartanburg & Knoxville will get you in and out quick-- I've just never been in their neck of the woods- at the right time/needed time.

Tonight, I'm here in Columbus- waiting until Morning for said service--
at least they run a shift on Sunday.
Will probably drop this load-- here and call Sunday a (Yard Day)

We were in NK earlier this week. In a blue truck. And they were... Umm, what's the word I'm looking for? Probably blocked by profanity filters.

Just asked for a few things (wiper fluid and a few similar items), and you'd swear we had asked the sun and the moon and the stars. We really got the crap attitude when we asked them to cut another key.

I agree about Lincoln. Was there for some stuff with last trainer (EGR, I believe). Of course, that was in a red truck, so YMMV.

I've talked to alot of Kennesaw people as of late....its an odd outfit from what I gather... (Teams only to the left coast)

They do alllow critters.. 8)

One lady was breeding and raising miniature Doberman's in her truck...
She had 9 in there total....another person had some sort of 200 LB German Shepherd mutation eat the inside of the truck to bits...

or was it mutated Ferrets?... I cant recall how the story went..

anyhooo

Yes...training is ok where I work at Company X

headborg, I double checked the logs on that San Jon to Laughlin run. Trainer drove for about four hours, I got seven, or thereabouts. Good weather, mostly easy running.

Salt Lake City terminal tonight.
