Ive been on vacation for awhile.......I sent you a PM and you can call me tomorrow and I will see if we can fix what is wrong.

As far as the pay....if I told you 37...its supposed to be 37cpm.
I read the same thing that is on the JB hunt website under jobs.
Without being in the office right now the only thing I can think of that might be the problem is you might be on the per dium pay and not know it. That is an option. You dont have to be on it if you dont want to.
As far as the miles.....yeah, it looks like you had a sucky week...It happens. You said the first week was good. I cant remember what job you were on, but again, I read directly off the same thing thats on the website and tell drivers the exact average of miles for that job. Keep in mind that averages are exactly that...averages...which means you will have your great weeks, average weeks and crappy weeks....thats just truck driving. The only advice I can give you is dont judge a job by just two weeks.

Why don't you tell him the truth? That JB Hunt is moving more and more freight onto the rails and brokering out more loads. I think I read in this quarter's recent earnings that their truckload division is now 34% of total revenue and steadily declining. One day they'll just end up brokering out truckload completely. That's because dedicated and intermodal are where it's at.

As a result, average length of haul has been dropping like a rock for years at these big fleets. The real money's in short-haul and regional work ala Heartland. Ever seen Heartland's operating ratio? Last I checked, it's around 79 which is amazing in such a low-margin, highly competitive business. And yet they manage this kind of profitability by claiming to be the highest-paying carrier at up to .50 cpm? Hmmm...

firefighteremtb78 you're nothing but a blip on a computer screen to these big McMega haulers. A fly in the ointment. A cog in the wheel. Companies like JB Hunt overhire for the amount of freight they have because of the ridiculous layover policy in OTR trucking - you only rate layover pay AFTER 24 hours of twiddling your thumbs for zilch. That is IF you even get it. And so now they are able to have alot of on-call drivers sitting around the country for free.

This is rich. Problem might be that he on per diem pay? Yea, he is. It's automatic when you hire on, and YOU KNOW THIS! Great how you prep him for this.

Why don't you do him a favor, and find a nice account that you can give him to make up for the BS you already have. At least then he might have a chance to make some money.

Well cluggy, you are sort of right.....if a driver doesnt tell them that they dont want to be on it, it will automatically put you on it. But like I said, its an option and you dont have to be on it if you dont want.

Aww...cluggy is in heaven here. Out of all the drivers Ive hired from this board he finally found one that had ONE bad week....lol.
Wow cluggy, you think you can recruit him to join your whine fest?
My advice to him is the same I give for everyone.....You have only been on the job 2 weeks....stick it out. But he is an adult he can make his own decisions.

Sheepdancer, since you work for JB can you tell how the Target dedicated is going in Alabama. You know hometime & miles? Some drivers have told me they were on a salary, some said they had certain stores that they only do? Of course, when I ask the recruiter about this he says he doesn't know anything about that and just reads whats on his screen.

Lol....well, we do just read whats on the screen. However, we do also learn from the drivers who we put on those runs. Unfortunately, i have never hired a driver out of alabama for that target run. Ive put people on target out of other areas and havent heard any complaints. Usually those big retail dedicated runs are pretty good about keeping you moving and getting you home. Honestly, I cant remember if that Target out of alabama was a 14 days out or a home weekly ( we run both for Target). And that job isnt open right now so I cant look it up.
I tell you what I do have open now in Alabama. This is a great job and pays a gauranteed salary. I will PM you with the job and you can see if you live close enough or qualify for it.

Your right. I am in heaven. And I don't need a club of people to prove it. Because this driver bagged on me earlier before he started.

However, your also right about the time he had with JB Hunt. Two weeks? He should stick it out. Six months- a year, and see if things get better for him. Maybe you can find a account for him to land on, so he can make some better money. Of course, he was still with the new hire dispatcher they assign him with. Seems funny that he would have problems with them. I did good my first 2 weeks, or at lease not as bad as the others. He should do as you said, and act like a adult.

Misery loves company.

I have other accounts I can put him on....but I can honestly say, I think he will do better OTR in the long run. That is why I told him to stick it out. He can say the word, and I will help him get on a dedicated account.
Today I have looked at his miles, management has looked at his miles and even a VP has looked at his miles....we all agreed something is wrong. Those are way too low. Also his issue about his pay is being delt with. Someone asked what I could do for the guy, trying to be a smart ass. That is exactly what I can do for him!
Now....here is something for you Cluggy. Really, I dont have to do a thing for him. Like you love to say....My job is to get him in the door. Which I did and I was paid for it. Anything I do for him from now on, I am doing it for free. But still, I have had no problem trying to deal with this for about 3 hours today making no money. Why would i do that? BECAUSE I AM HONEST AND I WANT HIM TO SUCCEED.
