What you said, does that go for all criminals?? They were dumb enough to make those crimes, so they can continue unloading my truck at Home Depot. Face it guys, keep letting these morons into the industry and over half of you will never see 40 cpm from your carrier.

I think it so funny that people get on here and act like they have never done anything wrong or illegal in their life.
I made a mistake and did my time. and you think it is such a privilege to sit in a truck and make the money you do? I can make the same doing what I do if the work was stable and consistent. And be home in my bed every night. And only work 40 hours a week. Everyone seems to think the only thing a criminal can do is flip burgers or cut grass. for those of you that think you can do no wrong, well good for you. But when someone close to you gets caught up in something illegal and wants to follow in your footsteps and can't because of a stupid mistake. I wanna hear you tell them go flip burgers or unload trucks at home depot because that is all you are good for. Well you know, If someone was to give a felon a 2nd chance then don't you think he would appreciate it and work hard to show it? Or would you rather listen to whiners with crappy attitudes because they have no people skills or compassion for others bitch about everything. I agree to a point about felons, I don't think someone convicted of a immoral crime or a crime against humanity, ( rapist, child molestors, etc) should be allowed until someone can sign a document that they are no longer a threat to society. I got set up from someone I have known for years to sell them some drugs.(5 grams of Cocaine). I wasn't a dealer, I was a user. But now I am labeled a Drug Dealer because of it. No Excuse for what I did. But I learned 3 things. Jail Sucks, Drugs Suck, and Do Not Trust Anyone. I have goals and I will achieve them goals. I am not one to sit and piss and moan that i need another $.01 a mile. Or that I am going to give up because No One will Hire Me. Fact is. I will probably end up with a better opportunity just because I am being patient and persistent. I made a mistake in life, paid my debt, learned my lesson, And now it is time to move on. I have owned businesses, so I respect them for wanting to make money. So I do not have a problem with it. It is the whiners that don't care about the company and only wanna look out for themselves.

Let me say this to all of you; I have come to realize that life IS about CHOICES. Everything we do is a CHOICE. Whenever we break the law it is a CHOICE. Whether it is speeding, faking logs, or whatever. EVERYONE MAKES THAT CHOICE. Now, it has nothing to do with right or wrong. Growing up we all learn those lesson. Even a bank robber knows its wrong to rob a bank but his CHOICE is to do so anyway. When you speed, you know it is wrong, but you do it anyway.
That said, there are those who grow up and don't think they have a CHOCIES. That they have to do what they do because they see no better way. My felony is over 22 years ago. I am not asking anyone to look past that. What I am asking, because i feel it is right to ask, is look at that last 14 years ALSO. I have no trouble answering for the mistake i made (and it was a mistake. I have only one arrest) but also, ask me about my 14 years since work history. Ask me how I have contributed to society? Ask me about the boys and girls in my home town that I have been working with for the past 10 years. (6 girls 5 boys all in trouble when we met. Of the 11 none have been in trouble again. 6 have graduated HS and are in college. 2 graduated with honors. The others will graduate after this school year) . Ask me about the jobs i have held down in the last 14 years. A business school teacher (I have earned 2 college degrees and a teaching certificate since I have been home), a job with IBM (gave them an idea that saved them 1.2 million dollars over 5 years), and most recently with a diagnostics firm as a supervisor. Talk to me and ask me questions, hear my responses. Yes, if you read my case you get one opinion, but meet me, talk to me you will surely get another. Is anybody out there the same person they were 14 years ago? Have you not learned anything? Had different experiences? And maybe become a better person, husband, wife, child, employee, boss because of it. We live in a country of second chances. The thing is find those who deserve a second chance. Find those who have changed and are making a difference. I guarantee if you met me on the road you would like me right off the back. Would that change if you found out about my past? Most people can't believe it when i tell them. They ask me, how? You don't seem like that type. Everyone is trying to make a life for themselves and their family. If you keep condeming people to failure and lack of hope, then don't be surprised when they go back to a life of crime. In any other industry, with a turnover rate at 120%, experts would be scrathing their heads trying to figure out what the heck is going on. This percentage benefits the trucking companies. With the overabundance of drivers, they can afford to play lowball because if that one guy won't take the .32 there are anohter 100 behind him who just might. If there were not 100 guys waiting in line, then the companies would have to up the ante. Another reason is that where else can a person with limited "formal" education make $1,000-$1,500 a week. And yes, I would say that most felons do have limited formal educations. However, I would venture to say that there are more non-felons in trucking that ex-felons. Juxtapose that against the fact that those non-felons also took the .32, the numbers would prove that it has nothing to do with ex-felons. maybe if those non-felons who live in glass houses would hold the line, things might change. Want to change things. One look at the trucking industry shows that there is no unity amongst truckers in the industry. Its all about getting my miles, my parking space, getting to the pump first, getting unloaded first, etc. Trucking is one of those industries where truckers should be setting the standards for how they should be treated. But until you learn to think outside your cab, you are in for a rough time. So, CB Jr. tell me what have contributed to society. Better yet tell me what you have done for your community. Even better, tell me how you have help your neighbor or neighborhood. There is no one in this life that hasn't been given a second chance at something. Sometimes when they may not even have deserved it. So don't go around passing judgement on people until think about the second chances you were given. And if you were deserving.

Well I am still looking if you know of any O/O that might be willing to take a chance with me. I would be willing to team with an O/O also. more miles more $$$. I can get my own bond also. So they wouldn't have to worry about that. I can almost take away all concerns except "TRUST" but that comes with time.

Try posting on craigslist. Maybe you can find an owner operator through there. Its free. I dont know if you can post once for national exposure or u might have to make multiple listings for different cities. |
