Swift used to spec trucks with direct 10 speeds and 3.36 rear ends. With that gearing 55-60 was about as fast as you could go.

Back then Stevens spec'ed their T2000's with 435hp N14's, direct 10 speeds and 2.85 rear ends. In 98 they were in the process of converting the fleet from T600's to T2000's. If memory serves, they are now 435-500hp Cats, overdrive 10 speeds and 3.55 rear ends for both the T2000's and Peterbilt T2 clones. My first truck at stevens was an old dog midroof single bunk T600 with a 400hp N14, 9 speed overdrive and 3.90 rear end.

Arrow has what they call 65 + 5, kind of like what he said about USX. The better the fuel mileage, the faster you can go supposedly, but my truck always seems to go 67-68, no matter how good or bad my fuel economy is. After like two years, or if you become a trainer, then they set it up to 70. I have never understood why they let trainees go faster than the guys on their own, just because there is someone riding w/ them.
