Are you an experienced driver or newbie? The training with my husband ended up being more of team training and that can be a very bad thing. It was for my husband he had an accident the first night he went solo. He got into a situation and did not handle it well. If you are new I suggest going with a company that trains you well as after school you really only know enough to get your CDL.
If you are an experienced driver May Trucking is not a bad company.
Also I have heard that they may not let you take your truck home you will have to check with them and see, this way you will know how far you may have to leave your truck to drive home.
I know that they had a very slow period for a while and as long as you plan for it you should be okay.
We have a thread on May Trucking. My husband was only there a very short time.

i thot i replied already maybe not. they have a yard at payette idaho. i have not seen it. if they service and repair your truck there when your at home thats worth alot. you should drive over there and check it out. do they have secure parking for your car? i have had hassles parking trucks and you cant leave a car at a truckstop. that yard makes it easier for you to get home, you cant park valuable loads anywhere thats not secure.

I drove for them years ago and had a good experience with them .... being that I no longer live within the 'hiring' area of them .... I couldn't go back to them .... I did get to bring my tractor home .... I dropped my trailer at a well lite TS and brought the tractor home .... on the over all.... there just as good as any other company. Good equipment, pay if fair, but you will run alot in the upper NW area and alot in Canada ... which means you'll be putting chains on alot. But for the most part .... give them a try.

One of the gals that I went to school with is working for May and is absolutely loving it! I am actually heading to the Brooks (Salem), Oregon terminal for Orientation this coming week.

How was her training? Is her trainer teaming or is he really training? I know they said they don't team but my husbands trainer did. I am just curious.

She, as I, had our mentors with Swift. Her first mentor would get up, while he is driving to grab stuff out of the sleeper, and to grab stuff across to the passenger side of the truck in the cubby holes. She complained, and nothing ever happened. Most of the time She was driving, it was with her mentor in the sleeper.
