im trying to understand their logic. lets fine the driver for violating hos or forget to check this box etcc.. for the load we dispcthed said driver on.
since when did the fmcsa give carriers the legal authority to impose such fines. I guess its a surpise at orientation. driver gets fined and the amount of such deducted from their check, ths is a catch 22 for drivers. their line of thinking is the drivers not going to say anything he or she violated hos. they can make revenue to make that bonus check for the safty dept that much nicer, absolutely wonderful no end to this insanity.

I can see them firing a person for Habitual log book violations but most companies will give a Driver a "Refresher" on how to do a log book first. If they are doing that, which I still doubt, it's a bit above and beyond anything I've ever heard or seen.

OK! WH Transportation is out.
What are my best bets as a new driver from Minneapolis. I have been searching for a long time for the right company to start with! I have a clean driving record, and background. Any ideas? Thanks!

Yoopr...it really does not matter to me if you "buy" the 100.00 fine that WH imposes on upon their drivers for log book violations or not. You mentioned that you see their trucks from time to time, ask one of the drivers, ask to see their 1 1/2" thick drivers/company manual as well.
Oh and by the way and for the record...WH did "NOT" kick me out or fire me from orientation. I left orientation by my own free will and expense. If you would have taken the time to check the link, that I had enclosed in my original reply, you would have read about the problems that I incurred while there at orientation. You would have also read about a few of WH's policies that I felt were unjust. I have no axes to grind, nor do I gain anything in anyway, by stating what I have stated here at this or any message board. My sole purpose of this or any post for that matter, is to provide the truth. Truthful, factual information with hopes that it will help out a fellow driver or individual from having to learn the hard way as I did, which I believe to be the purpose of this forum.
