At Swift we have to have an accurate log within 15 minutes of a fuel stop. I get dinged for fuel violations at least once a month, most get corrected, two have not, and both times the computer said I fueled over two hrs after I said I did. Both times I was at a terminal, and both time I was logged in at the terminal, at the time I said I fueled. One time I spend the night there I dropped my trailer then stood around for 2 hrs then fueled. And the other I had came and went according to the terminal log then snuck back in to fuel.

We "should" fuel where the computer tells us to, however I have been routed 100 miles out of route to save 5 cents a gallon. Not sure how that works. Needless to say I just asked for emergency fuel where I needed it.

Computers are so naughty and so complex...

When I drove for Barr Nunn, they have a network of fuel stops. As long as you use one of those fuel stops you are ok. If some thing happened to where you needed a emergency stop you just sent in a macro and asking for an emergency fuel stop. They would ask for how many gallons you can get etc.. That worked out pretty good.

Damn, the price difference between the two Petros counld not have been more than 2-3 cents per gallon. Right? They just sent there driver east for a few gallons, then west for a fill up and then east to start the trip? Why not fill up at the first Petro and just keep rolling east? Also, were not talking about 5-10 miles here.

No, she is smarter than that. She just filled at ext 37 and rolled east.

I drove for Crete for 6 years. I didn't have many complaints about them. I just talked with a driver that is still there and yes, the fuel needs to be logged when it happens. Used to have 1 hr leeway or could log at beginning or end of 10 hr break. He says that it can't be done any longer.

Ok you passed a log audit. So it doesn't awnser the question. How close does your fuel stops need to be. 15 minutes or 1 hour or 1 day?

I think it has to be the nearest 15 minutes..which would be 7 minutes tolerance. 1 hour was the old standard, and 1 day never was OK with Crete

Keep it as close to your actual time spent fueling and you'll never have a problem ...
