Not driving right now, I work for the local sheriffs office as a 9-1-1 dispatcher. I've been off the road now since Oct. of 05. I will be driving part time again on my days off as of the beginning of October though. I tried to get away from it, but trucking is highly addictive! I'll be doing local work transporting heavy equipment on a low-boy flatbed trailer, mostly heavy-haul stuff. That's what I was doing when I got my current job, I'll be part-time for my previous employer. When I drove OTR I started with Gordon, which was a great company to work for. But if I went back to OTR I might go with May, based both on your posts and the opinions of my old trainer from Gordon who went to May for a while. They sound like a reputable company, and I like the clean look of their Brooks terminal.

I have read that trucking is addictive I took a test to do 911 work last year, I was looking for graveyard work, but I did not have my numbers and tabbing down. Practice typing and got my speed up to 47 but had no idea what was on the test and did not practice numbers and tabbing boy was I lost!

May so far has been a very good company for us.

Sorry, I started this post right after my last one then I had to catch a mouse under the couch and then get the kids to bed, but I back now!

My husband called me around noon this afternoon. He said his Operations Service Leader (OSL) told him he was doing a great job and asked him how he liked working for the company! I think that was cool!

He also found out around noon that his next load would be going to Phoenix, Arizona. He picked it up in Saint Helens Oregon after he dropped off the load in Wood Villiage Oregon.

This trip will be 1,350 miles total. It is due Monday morning. So between the load he got earlier this week of 1218 and this one 1350 he will turn in for this week on Monday for 2,568 miles.

I am not sure yet what all came in from last week on this check as I have not seen the pay sheet yet.

On the May Company web-site they have a Driver Payroll Recap but we do not know how to access it yet. My husband will find out tomorrow and I will check it out and see what is all on the driver recap.

Colin do you know what they show on it? Did they have this when you worked there?

It is an adventure :P My husband is enjoying it!

I am not sure what D&H stands for! So far he has had loads such as beer, paper products, juice, doors, snowboards and power tools. I am not sure what this load is. I forgot to ask

Anyway if you could educate me and let me know what D&H stands for I would appreciate it!

yes ma'am and sorry D&H is drop & hook, if you have to bump a dock to get loaded or unloaded that is live load/unload, if you drop your trailer...park it and unhook from it (loaded or empty) that is a drop, and then if you can hook to an empty (mt) or preloaded trailer that is a hook, D&H's are most drivers favs, they save alot of time. (unless we get a bad trailer that is preloaded) if that happens....well....

I will have to ask my husband what the ratio is. I am not sure to be honest with you. I know he has had both.

The main thing we care about is how many miles can he get in a week. I am certain that d&h would be nicer but as long as the miles are there and the wheels on the truck are going things are good :P

I will ask my husband tomorrow and let you know what he has had!

Take Care,

Most of May are Drop and hooks. If a trailer has to be unloaded You WILL NOT do it. YOu will have to hire a lumper. But May has 95% drop and hook.
