To a Maverick driver or anyone that might know. Are they getting loads in the Southeast? I'm out of Jacksonville, FL.

Drew, just a guess, but you must be going through their school to get your CDL also, huh? Just a little tip, if you get the CDL on your own, you'll be able to get into orientation much sooner. Maverick doesn't sponsor students at several different schools like a lot of companies. If they are sponsoring you, it will be at ASU and there are a very limited number of spots available. That's usually where the waiting list comes in with Maverick. They usually only send a couple of students up per week so if the waiting list is 100 people long, you most likely won't even get there in 2-3 months.

If you're really interested in them give them a call and see if there are any schools in your area that they might recommend. It could make your wait much shorter.

As for the SE, Jacksonville is about as far south as a Maverick truck will get for the most part (unless it's the Specialized side), but they do run all over GA, AL, MS, TN and the Carolinas so you won't have to worry much about available freight. The do go into FL a little also, but not as frequently as the other states.

Good luck.

I got my CDL last year around this time. I decided not to take a driving job right out of school due to some heath reasons in the family. Today i called my recruiter to ask why i had to wait so long. It's due to the lack of driver trainers at the time. She said it might not be as long of a wait of 2/3months, but they just don't want to say it will be tomorrow if they are that short i guess.

The school that i got my CDL through is offering me a 40HR refresher for free since i paid my tuition in full. Figure that will be a good idea be for going out there.

Thanks for the reply

I see. Well, good luck with that. I agree that it would be a good idea to go back to your original school for the refresher, especially if it's free.

Maybe by the time you get the refresher finished it'll be all cleared up?

Maverick sends students in their Specialized Division needing their CDL to a school in Thomasville NC for 4 to 6 weeks depending on open slots in the school, then over to the Laurinburg NC terminal for a few of weeks of securement training. Last I heard, the wait was getting long for that division also. BOL
