Here's a big hello to all my fellow TMC brothers i too just completed my orientation whats up Rawlco and JBenson just sitting here trying to get acculmated to being back home after the 22 hour ride home to mass .It was a trip driving those long nose petes around downtown Des Moines looking forward to getting set up with my trainer and putting those 6 weeks behind me

Only thing i'm not happy with about TMC is the fact that i have to do longhaul.I live outside of the hiring area by 25 miles so they told me that i'm longhaul

I see in those pic that a lot of the trucks have the super singles on them. Is that what TMC is outfitting all their trucks with now?

What is the advantage (or disadvantage) of them over the traditional duals?

My first truck had duals, my second Michelin X-1's, my daycab has duals. The advantage to the single is in weight. Less weight = more freight. The less your truck weighs, the more freight you can haul, the more money can be made. A fringe benefit is that the singles LOOK cool and strike up many conversations at truck stops. :wink:

1) weight saving of about 400 lbs per axle
2) this tire actually has more tire area on the road surface than a set of dual.
3) super singles dont rut the roadway like duals.
4) increased fuel efficiency

If you can find a place to park the rig on weekends that is INSIDE the boundary and then get a ride home, you MAY be able to change that.

I have a question for Matt or however may be able to help I guess. I've been debating driving a truck and what company to drive for about 4 months now. I've been reading a couple different forums and will probably try to get on at TMC. Now the question is where to go for training. I live only about 30 minutes north of Des Moines. My plan was to go to DMACC (Des Moines Area Community College) for CDL training, but I think where Fred went is cheaper, and I know it is shorter. I don't know if TMC prefers one over the other? I also wondered if they would pay for some of the schooling if someone went to a community college. Kind of long chopped up questions. I want good training, but I also don't want to have to pay more, if it doesn't necessarily get me ahead. Thanks guys.

Whats up JBenson2?, very, very, nice pics. They gave me a sense of what to expect (somewhat). I noticed on the trailer pics that some loads were strapped outside the traps. Is this ok or were drivers cutting corners. Not trying to be critical, just wondering...peace
