i have been reading a lot of your guys posts, what happens when you are at a shipper and spend 4 hours(or more) waiting to load/unload. do you get paid detention time or do you work the books a little to make it look like less time? i know that if you aint moving you aint making any money.

Detention pay is paid when the company gets it.

If anyone herein admits cooking the books, I would be surprised.

Thanks for the pics, man! Glad to see things are going well. I'm curious....that load of copper you brought to CT....was it going to Norwich?

jeff
Yes, it did go to norwich. Talk about a fast unload/sticky little places to manuver around. Anyways, end of week 3,a nd it's going great so far. Thankfully, no real problems with my trainer eighther...

I keep forgetting to take pictures of stuff, so I don't know when i'll update.

I figured....my buddy's a cop there (Norwich)............he's often called there to direct truck traffic, I guess it's a busy place at times. It's only 50 miles or so from my home, so maybe one day soon (after my 6 weeks!) I'll be driving there.

Anyways, I leave at noon tomorrow bound for West Virginia to meet my trainer. I spoke to him on the phone tonight, seems like a good guy.

Looks like I won't get home at all for my 6 weeks, but what the hell. Gotta start paying my dues I guess!! jeff

I just completed week two out with my trainer. I got a lot of experience in driving in rain, snow and ice. We were shut down in Oklahoma City the first night. We delivered sheet rock, feed and now have a load of copper. We have been to Kansas City, MO, Segliman, AZ almost to the Grand Canyon and saw the devil staring from the abyss north of Morenci, AZ. Yes, there is a story there I will not relate on a public board. It has only been two week, yet I still say this is the easiest job I have ever had. I'm willing to keep an open mind on this.

Could'a, would'a, should'a that's the way the cookie crumbles. I have very limited experience, my trainer much more. We would have talked your ears off with our experiences. I didn't take my computer with me this time, so I had no internet access. I won't make that mistake again. If you have any questions ask. I recommend www.flatbedfred.com.

Terry, were you able to get a local trainer or are you in a hotel somewhere? Do you know how many are in the Austin area? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks and keep us posted!

My trainer is in Belton. I have no idea how many are in this area. The next time I talk to my training coordinator I will ask, maybe she knows. My trainer will be looking for another in four more weeks.
