I had the pleasure of seeing the Columbia yard for the first time earlier this week, ran into the usual crowd there. Have you guys heard anything about a TMC driver being killed after jacknifing a rig because he had smooth single wide tires? I'm talking about the ones that look like trailer tires, not drive tires. super trucker noticed them on my truck and said he saw the same tires kill a driver and advised me to flatten all 4 of mine so I could get better tires immediately. had I not been dead tired I would have asked where this happened but I just brushed it off. they aren't bad in the rain but when you're empty, look out. should get some real drive tires before winter.

Right now on Line Haul I am taking home, on average, over $800.00 per week and we are in a "recession." A week is 7 days. A month is 30/31 days. Thanks for the heads up man, I am trying to go to orientation in mid June, they have my app and everything looks good, I just have to wait out my 2 weeks with my current company because I am not good at screwing people over and just quitting. I hope it works out, I have this itch to work for TMC that is killing me.

I actually just finished my 2 week orientation out in Des Moines and I only saw 1 freightliner, it was the only old beat up looking truck there. From what I was told they are phasing all of the freightliners, pete 387's, and KW's out of the fleet. So basically there will be classic style petes only.

The last 2 weeks has been interesting. We started off with 29 people in the class. We lost 8 during week one and then another 3 this last week. 1 was sent home for lack of shifting skill, 1 went out and got drunk Tuesday night at some local bar, and one just thought it was a little too much for what he wanted to deal with. It was a challenging program, but overall I dont really see where people think it is like "bootcamp" or any of the other comparisons and warnings I got. Austin isn't the week one instructor anymore so maybe that has changed the way things are, now it is some guy they pulled from safety, George something. Unfortunately there were 3 of us from SW Pennsylvania that passed and there were not enough available trainers. So as of right now I am sitting at home and I have no clue when I will be getting into a trainers truck. I am supposed to call in on Monday morning and check to see if they found one for me over the weekend. Hopefully it will not be long, I am looking forward to getting out on my own.

Imagine that, I bet the guy that got drunk was wondering why a trucking company terminated his a$$ while in orientation. Good luck.

Good news. I called in this morning and they have a trainer lined up. He is finishing with his current trainee on Friday and I will leave on Sunday or Monday with him. I also talked to the other guy from my class who didn't get assigned a trainer straight from orientation today and he is already in a truck so that makes all 18 of us in a truck within a week of orientation. not bad

Well hell, I got turned down for some reason, unsure why. I have a spotless driving record and have only had 2 jobs in the last 12 years :?:
I will keep looking. Sucks though, I really wanted to drive for TMC so I could get through the house fairly often and see my daughter. 4-5 weeks out for the same pay or less doesn't cut it.

Get on the phone with the recruiter and find out why, if you want it!
Sometimes it is something so simple, that it can be fixed with one phone call! A gap, even 2 or 3 weeks in employment status is sometimes the reason. I took a 3 month vacation in 2003, and now anytime I apply, have to submit signed and notarized statement from people that know me, to prove I was on vacation in the Hill Country, and not trying to hide a bad employer! You need to find out the reason, otherwise it could haunt you for the rest of your driving career! Good Luck!
