I'm sure they would if you fill them our incorrectly, or if you are running illegal. :P

Arrived home this morning from my first week driving for TMC. Have to say, so far, so good. Never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my next load. The fiction level of my logs was very low. And once the check comes in, I should clear about what I made in a week back at Arrow. Not bad for a first week learning the ropes at a new company.

edit: forgot to add, every one of the directions to shippers I received were spot on, and none of my deadheads were very long. Couple of my pet peeves.

Glad you're doing well. I wish you continued success. Stay safe!

Buchanan NY is a LaFarge wallboard plant.

The Lowe's Distribution center in Westfield, MA has preloaded trailers with a lumber tarp draped over the top. The NYC deliveries are all night deliveries I believe, could be wrong on that. I think you would run two loads per night since it is about 150 miles each way. Most of the guys on that live in the western Mass area, but do not always go home every day. The loads as loaded by the monkeys at Westfield frequently need adjustment for weight balance or ease of load securement, so the drivers do the tarping and securement in the morning as the loads become available and then head out in the evening to make their deliveries. You can drop and hook 24 hours, so you might be able to head up there in the evening after spending the day at home, throw your straps on the first load and go. It would work given an hour for each load at each end, but no more than that. I have never been able to strap and tarp one of those in an hour flat, but it may be possible with more exposure to that type of load when you can tell by looking at a package how sturdy it is and if you will damage it by overtightening the straps.

You would have a sleeper cab probably, at least I have not seen any daycabs on that run.
Thanks Rawlco. Hmmmmm choices.... choices..... Owens Corning no tarp, strap only, shingle loads out of Kearny NJ or Lowes weird, screwed up, mis-shapen loads requiring tarps... hmmmm....

And the truck washing thing, I like it. Was in Houston, had a couple hours till my appointment time, quallcommed my PO and done deal. The thing I really like about washing the truck is not only do I have a clean truck, but I stay cleaner. I figure half the dirt that makes it on my clothes is from brushing up against the truck or trailer, the cleaner they stay, the cleaner I do.

Goldie, don't know if you remember but we chatted on the phone last year when I was just starting this adventure, sorry I joined the TMC party too late for you to get the referral. Arrow was just too well set up with the local driving school.

Let me ask you all...

When you are hooked to a flatbed trailer do you pretty much keep
it for a while....

Can you have it washed when you have the tractor washed (so you wont get too dirty climbing all over it and track it into the cab?)

Whats thier critter policy ?

What do they pay for the deadhead ? Cents per mile or a set fee ?

Thanks

A;so : Any chance of 'Load select'

The rule of trailer-keeping thumb is..."The better the trailer, the quicker you will swap it out. The worse the trailer, the longer you get to keep it."

Yes, a trailer is always washed when you wash a tractor.

No critters.

20 cents per mile for all miles, if the deadhead "bounce" goes over 150 miles.

What is 'Load Select?
