Does TMC have accounts at some of the truck washes ? We have to get a po# every week. As much as I love a clean truck and as much mud and dirt as I drive thru I don't always have time to actually get the wash and I will save that po# for use the next week. So I might get a truck wash on monday and friday.

I have been with companies that give you 24 hours off for every week out like JB Hunt. That may sound good in theory but when you get home around 10pm one night they expect you to be ready to go again at 10pm the next night. I had times with JB that I would get 48 hours off for my weekend then at 10pm they would call and expect me to run 90 miles to San Antonio to get a trailer full of carboard boxes and be in Laredo by 7am. If I told them that I needed the sleep they would tell me that I should have gotten sleep before my time was up and that I needed to be ready to roll reguardless of the time of day.
Many times your time off at home (reguardless of who you work for) will depend on where your load delivers on monday. 1/2 of the time I get friday night thru monday morning off but I have had time where I was back at the truck right at my 34 break. BTW...since no one has really said.....no we aren't changing HOS just yet. Read this article in Land Line Magazine: http://www.landlinemag.com/Special_R...lay_in_HOS.htm

At least I get a work out and I am in much better shape than I ever was pulling a box around. I've lost 30 pounds since I got into flatbedding. 8) Sure beats having to get a gym membership on top of my driving job to stay in shape.
If anyone is going to in Joplin this tues-wed come find me and we will have lunch/dinner together. I have to go up there for service and repairs. These cattle paths and corn rows that I drive down to get to some of these rigs caused my truck to fall apart this month. One jeep rated trail that I was on last week took me 2 hours to go 22 miles from the paved road to the drill rig. Man I sure envy you line haulers for getting to drive on paved roads some days. Even the rattle snake that I scared moved faster then I drove. Terry...did I scare you away from joining us? If anyone else wants to compare dollars to donuts I average $1041/week and I don't work weekends. I work harder and longer then most...but that's part of my division. Even DSM doesn't want to acknowledge that we exist.  I love what I do and I really love being home every weekend and spending time with my wife and 4 year old. Be safe out there. Keith 91803 What do you mean I get slammed on other boards? I don't post on any other boards...Period! So there is your first lie. Secondly, the name Dollarshort is just a handle. My wife and I used to drive team and we went by Daylate and Dollarshort. Just a joke! Not, relating to how much money I make. Just another generalization to make yourself look good and me look bad. I don't work weekends either. So what's your point? I also get home one or two nights a weeks. So what's your point? I haven't touched a piece of freight, or tarp, in a long time. I do use a bungee to keep the fuel nozzle in my tank when fueling. I'm sorry, but I just don't buy the phrase. "I do flatbedding to get exercise crap" To me I would rather go to the gym for my exercise. The big difference is at least I have time to take a shower when I am done exercising in the gym. And unless I touch the grease on the bars on the bench press I don't get filthy exercising. So if your happy working 2-3 times harder than me for the same money that's your choice. I am happy with my choice.

He never gets routed so tight that he doesn't have time for a 20 min shower. Now, I have no arguments with you, you like your job, he likes his Just saying that at least for some that is a valid reason to be and enjoy flatbedding. In other news, as far as TMC goes, we just about couldn't be happier at this point. He's technically longhaul, but had made it home every weekend for 5 weeks, until he took this weekend out to drop a load that pays HIM $824 dropping today Can't beat that to start a week. We've seen him more than we ever did before, AND he's making more at it and enjoying the work, except the crazy 4 wheelers which is just part of it for anybody

Well first day is in the books.First was a run thru the paper work they gave us at checkin at the hotel. Then 9 at a time go get a UA and DOT check. That was done around 11am.Then it was hours of paper work such as tax forms and the like.We were given 3 tests we have to get done by the end of day 2.They dont give you class time to do the tests you have to find the time at lunch and breaks.1 math test 1 CDL type test and 1 Dot test. Then at 3pm we had office people come in and talk then a guy from allstate ins co came in to sell us extra ins. They are going to open the class room an hour early so people who want to can work on the tests.Other than some of the smells comin off people that I could rob with a bar of soap it was not bad.

I am about teaching and someone at TMC was CRAZY enough to give me Trainer of the Month this year. I will also be done with my current victim when you finish. However, I live in NH and you would stay in a hotel for 6 weeks if I trained you. There was a ding-a-ling (yes you BND!) that just had to train with me from Yonkers, who made the trip each week I had an E4 from Scranton but he had no reason to go home each weekend and stayed in Keene, NH the whole time. Sounds like your pre-orientation anxieties are gone. Hope you do well and good luck.

Well day 2 is done.I had my first 2 runs in the stimulator.Um it sucks comes to mind.I trained on a 10 speed and the 13 with the splitter is killin me.The upshift is cake but the down shift is givin me hell.At this point I have no idea if I can pass the skills tests. The rest of the day is tryn to stay awake as the teacher guy talks about stuff people should have found out about before picking TMC in the first place.I need stimulator time and I need alot of it if I am ever to get the 13 down.I know the steps to the shifts but the whole splitter flips on the down shifts are what is getting me.But the upside is one of the guys that teaches the shifting is freakin great. If I could just get more than 20 min with him at a time I would be better off.

Hey Von,
I was just accepted to TMC, I'm going to finish cld a school in 4 weeks. Not sure when and if I'm going to TMC but they are at the top of my list of companies, Superior being the first. I'm in R.I. and hoping to get a trainer close to home. If your still training, keep me in mind. TKS
