We do offer a refresher for anyone out of school in the last 5 years or has driven in the last 5 years but no recent otr experience. What we do when you first get here is we road test you and if you pass that, you won't need a refresher. You haven't been off the road for very long so I don't think you'd have any problems passing the road test. Either pm me or call me at (800) 247-2460 ext 3410 and I can tell you about it. Thanks

Matt

Also, he is planning on moving to near Bristol Tenn. within the next year or so. Anyone live near these two areas and drive for TMC? I ran otr for Gordon, ran local for a while, and ran regional flat-bed on dedicated Lowes lumber acct. Also, anyone know what kind of refresher (length-wise) that TMC might require? I've been off the road for about a year and 3 months, but I still drive dump and low-boy for a friend about once a month (dump w/18 spd, lowboy semi w/18 spd). Any info is greatly appreciated.

Those areas, IMO, are flatbed Happy-Fun. Plenty of business activity such as building, heavy and light industry, etc. Also a good source of outgoing freight too. The best part about that area is that you can make the $ and get decent home time.

I did not mean to start a new thread, vonSeggern, I hit the wrong button. I did not plan on TMC because of trainers, I chose TMC for stability and pulling flatbeds. I am new to trucking but not new to weird hours or driving. I work a 12 hour rotating shift and pull a 40 foot fifth wheel camper. I am not saying I am the best driver because I pull a camper, but I am not the worst either. I just wanted to start a career in truck driving and want TMC to be the company I work for.

Hey Guys,

Starting road training on Monday, hopefully just 8 more weeks and i'll be cdl licensed truck drivin flatbeder.. if i get on with TMC. Anyway I was wondering how close you guys are to getting the 5 loads a week this time of the year. I know in the dead of winter freight runs a bit slow. The other thing I was a wonderin was what are the odds of me getting on the "46 out of 52 weekends a year home" plan I hear so much about living in Western Massachusetts on I 91 between Springfield and Brattleboro?

Stay safe

Scott

I am out with my trainer in week 3. We have not had a 5 load week the entire time. Except for this week it has not been because of a lack of freight. We've had delays at shippers and receivers and had some bad weather. We have been waiting for a load since 1200 yesterday more than 25 hours. There seems to be no loads in the entire Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and within 60 miles. I am thinking we will be sent home empty in the next several hours. I don't know anything about your area.

No problem. My Germanic heritage precludes me to seek excessive order.

Nothing wrong with the camper thing. Backing practice is backing practice. My best trainee had a camper and backed like a champ.

My only suggestion is that you get a full understanding of flatbedding. It is harder than vans, etc., but most of us could never do anything but flatbedding. In a sick way, we like it.

TMC is very different from other trucking companies, in the good way. TMC loves people with good attitudes, care about quality work, and represent the company to the customers and public in a positive way. In return they pay for effort and intelligence in an excellent pay program. Most important, the company is really about integrity. Usually, the people that are disgruntled with TMC are digruntled with pretty much everything.

Good luck.

I got 6 this week. It has been craptastic though. For me the last few weeks were pretty lucrative.
This is the 46/52 area, http://www.tmctrans.com/drivers2.asp
That means you would be on long haul. There are new dedicated opportunities in New England that could get you home lots. Talk or PM Mr. FlatbedFred for better inf on this.
