Correct. On Tuesday, you'll get your hours from the previous Monday back.

Or like I seen on here do I need to stop at 69.75 to do that?
Nope. You can run right up to your 70, and even go over if you are only doing On Duty (not driving). You just can't drive beyond that 70 hours.

I know I dont have to take a 34 unless I use them up like my 6th day bacause it would be quicker to do it that way.
Yeah - if you've used your 70 up by halfway through your 6th day, you're going to kind of be forced to do a 34 hour reset if you want to drive again.

Your wife is wrong, but make sure you tell her that she was absolutely correct.

Default the official unofficial answer

So, Rev, I guess you are right, BUT I am also kind of right, how would they find out I was in the sleeper? You wouldnt tell on me would you?

I'm going to refer to the DOT Regulations found in Part 395.2,

definition of on-duty time. In it, it states that you are on-duty anytime

you are in/on the vehicle with the following exception, when the driver is

in the sleeper berth.

Now with that being said, if you are at your home for several days off duty

and for whatever reason you want to go spend time in your sleeper berth,

I do not see a reason to go show time in the sleeper berth.

However, if Law Enforcement was to ever find out that you spent time in the

sleeper berth and showed off duty, you could be cited for a false log.

It's not going to hurt your 34 hour reset by showing time in the sleeper berth as

long as the time has off duty time on either side of the sleeper berth.

Rest Option # 3 allows a driver to show off duty and sleeper berth in combination

to obtain the required rest.

Thanks for the question. Hope this helps.

Absolutely.

(all it would take is for a DOT cop to happen upon your truck and ask to see your logbook. If it showed you off duty when you were in the truck, then he could cite you for a false log. Not saying he would, but he could.

Thanks for posing the question to Trooper Dial. I suppose hoBo will be along shortly to claim that Monty Dial is wrong too.

Default Ok Rev, how about this

According to the regs, ALL time spent in or on a commercial vehicle must be logged as on duty. so.. I am on vacation and drive my pickup to a truck dealer to check out a truck I want to buy. I sit in it, so I have to log it on duty, if I get in the sleeper to check it out, I have to log sleeper.. if I drive it, I have to log Driving, now according to the regs, since I am driving I have to do A pretrip, what if I find something wrong" am I responsible for making sure it gets fixed? what do I use for a truck number? what do I put for a carrier? It's not my carriers truck. what do I use for a load number?
my point is that the regs are ridiculous and no one is ever going to follow them exactly, not even you..

Yup. In my opinion, the purpose of the regs is not to regulate behavior, but to give the Lawboys something to charge drivers with when things go "splat."

Rev is on vacation, logging line 7: On Duty (Wisconsin Dells). Your regular scheduled programming will return on Wednesday.
