I doubt if anything changes. Most new drivers don't know what they're looking at or for. Lights is about all they can spot.

TruckerChris (formerly kona911) here...
Just running up and down I-5 from Portland to Oxnard, Salinas, 99 corridor and Yuma. Got a nice new gig working for the type of company that I've always wanted. Less than 150 trucks, everyone is like family and good pay. I still have my pete and will hopefully be getting a trailer here in the next year. If you're on i-5 look for me in this: ![]() Chris

I am still running my million plus mile truck. just after my inframe, I got a stroke of good luck after bad luck. had to take truck back to shop to work out a couple bug's in engine. then for the first time I was asked to work sat for special loads needed. pulled 9 loads in 4 day's for $3229 to the truck & for the 3 weeks after inframe total $8365.00 to the truck & not one week was a full week. one week I only worked 3 days. just doing local runs until 20-30 thousand on engine & make sure it is broke in & no problems. I have a few more things to do to truck, but don't have to have done right now. our co. has a meeting on the csa 2010 that all of us must attend. will be in 2 weeks. I don't know how this will affect me.
have heard rumors that this law will remove estimated 175,000 drivers from the road. what will that do for rates? for major carriers? for me ? I don't know. I have everything I need to stay in this business. but I have to like doing what I am doing, or else I will leave it. hauling heavy single coils. 300 mile radius & it is working well. home every day. have virtually no expenses & will continue on other interests, while trucking. not interested in getting own authority or buying anymore trucks. buying more real estate, so if trucking does not appeal to me in the near future, I will stay home & still make a living. I hope things work out. things were so much better 10 years ago. nothing ever stays good for long. if it does I feel blessed. different loads, different locations, co's, dispatchers, rate cutters, it is ever changing. I hate change's. I guess that's why I am still driving the same truck I started out in. I love challenges but don't like the aggravation. was taking a few good paying loads a while back out of wise alloy to toledo oh ( rec 24hrs) then short deadhead to delta oh to load right back to 2 blocks from house. then the co had new rule. all loads had to be on covered wagon. NO tarps. my dispatcher said I need to get a covered wagon. I needed time to think about it. I decided no. 3 weeks later the co, knocked every one off the available carrier list except for 2 or 3. good thing I did not buy the covered wagon. things like that get me. but it is how the game goes. I am always ready for any change's, I just can't seem to like them. I am glad to hear folks here remember us. I would like to think I have contributed positively to this board as I know I have benefited from it's valuable info from the members here.

I'm lurking. I just joined here to give Saggy Vag a hard time cause he was a jackass on the Roundtable. So he's gone now what's the point?

Does he still have his Western Star? I know he had some trouble at the end, and I can't remember exactly what happened, but I miss his stories. Sure were interesting.

I STILL THINK WE SHOULD ALL RALLY AND HAVE HIM COME BACK AND CONTINUE THE STORY/THREAD NOW THAT ALL THE HAPPY -TRIGGER-FINGER MODS ARE ALL GONE.
It’s old hat, too, and I have no intention of revisiting it. And as far as trigger-happy, you couldn’t be further from the truth. Not a lot of permabans in effect here, primarily because none of us take any great enjoyment in laying out bans.
This forum is too dead

All forums are dead right now, even Truckers Report, and that’s saying something. Part of that is because it’s spring time and part of it is because forums, as a whole, are losing their appeal. Today it’s FB and twitter and other direct social marketing strategies. Nothing lasts forever and message boards are dying out.
