There is a lack of moderation at the present time which will be fixed (hopefully) shortly. I can't, however, see anything wrong with what has transpired in this thread. If you're willing to post your pay stubs, or are willing to discuss what you earn, then you have to expect that people are going to take issue with it - especially if what you are claiming falls beyond the "norm". That has nothing to do with a lack of moderation, however.

Personally, I think it is perfectly legitimate that people are calling you out on your numbers that you are posting. Not only does your pay stub not indicate how long the pay period is for, but it also does not state how many miles were driven to achieve that total.

Gross is Gross.........Commision, fuel, insurance, license, maint., etc is a expense to the truck.

But:
I'll make sure when I do my taxes this quarter I deduct the commission from the gross and only report the adjusted gross and tell my accountant Mike says so and see what he says.
You cannot deduct "commision" from your payable taxes,if you hauled loads off a load board would you get to deduct the percentage of the linehaul that the broker took? See I could make my numbers look real good to the uninformed if I posted the gross linehaul numbers too,but that does not tell anyone what they would actually be earning in this profession.

When you get your 1099 from the company you are leased to it will state the "gross" that was "paid" into your account "before" deductions for fuel or any escrow accounts that you have.

I just looked at one of my last statements the 2 loads combined paid a linehaul of $3,887.00 for 1,260 miles according to them, now I post that any everyone goes wow I gotta go pull a tank because those guys are getting rich over there. But if I posted my actual numbers (like I always do) it would show that I grossed $2,429.33(excluding fsc) on 1,410 actual miles and you see the difference.

I also don't do my taxes every quarter that way,I believe taxes are paid every quarter based on estimations from the previous year but what do I know.

This sounds like a very legitimate number,a far cry from 20-30k a month, but much more realistic.

I stopped by the trucking school I went to a few weeks ago. The first thing I seen when I walked into the classroom was the web addy for here written across the top of the blackboard. I asked the instructor why that was there. He said a recruiter put it there and told the class if they had any questions to come here and ask. I told the instructor I came here and got some good info when I was putting a plan together. The way this site has been the last few weeks I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My next time through there I will make sure I stop and have them remove the addy from the blackboard.

I'm sure everyone will laugh and make fun of this post and I really don't care. My hope is someone will take it to heart and fix the board. There are some here with good info to share but it's hard to wade through the BS to get to it.
This is about the same time the "great one" with his name on the door also told us that he was leaving never to come back because everyone called BS on his little adventure, you gonna do the same?

You are correct there is great info on this board and we are just wading thru the BS like you have suggested. You just don't like who's been getting scrutiny.

And when you tell the classroom why you want to remove the website from the board what will you tell them? "Those guys are mean, and they don't like the way I fudge my numbers to make it look better than it really is".

It's pretty tough over here, almost everytime you deliver it is until atleast the next day before you get a load, and I have waited 2 days. I am delivering around Albany,NY on Wed. this week so I am resigned to the fact that I will spend my first Thanksgiving on the road and probably without getting anything out of upstate NY or MA. I could deadhead home and that is a possibility but it really doesn't make much sense in these times.

I just bought a 2004 dry van for $7500. Perfect shape.

Like you guys are saying, the rates are horrible.
This week I am doing multiple stop loads (Brooklyn, Bronx, etc.) to get good rates.
I am in Raleigh, NC waiting for a pick on Monday. It has 4 stops in Brooklyn and the Bronx. It will take 2 days to unload, but I got a real good rate.

I have been running a lot less miles in between loads waiting for decent rates.

That's the trick right there - doing something that not everyone can or will do. NYC stuff isn't for everyone. I don't envy you having to run it. And most drivers are stuck in their ways, and expect the market to accommodate them, rather than them accommodating the market.

That right there my friend is a pearl of wisdom!

If you have been in business for very many years one thing you must learn is to be flexible. Business and the economy can change quickly. We must be able and willing to change to meet those conditions. If not, you won't be in business for very long. There are those competing in the market who think that the only way to compete is through cheaper prices. While that may work in the very short term, it will destroy them in the long run. Service will ALWAYS win out over price.

The only areas I have seen with decent reefer rates are west coast. CA,Az,OR,Nv,and especially Idaho.
The midwest is somewhat Ok. The rest of the country rates are in the CRAPPER. I have a flying J buffet coupon for anyone that finds me a load paying 2.00 a mile from TX to the northwest.
