I appreciate all the ideas.
I tried to look up specs on the ICT one, but didn't see anything about gph usage. The warranty kinda sucks at 1 yr/2000 hrs. The powertech one looked pretty good at $5500 self-install...with a nice 3yr warranty. If he were to get the ICT unit $7500, espar d2 heater $1100, roof a/c $1000, inverter $1000, all the small nickel and dime items he is up in the comfortmaster price range.

I know I don't. If it is under 70 degrees and over 30 degrees, I don't idle. I know for a fact that when you first bought the truck, you weren't idling during cold temps (I think you said somewhere around 30 degrees or so, if I remember correctly). That is a night that you would have used no fuel without the APU, but with the APU, you are using fuel. I still sleep with it 30 or so in the cab with the Rigmaster. I put the unit into auto mode when I go to sleep and it turns on at 30 and shuts off at 45. What I meant was during the day I would run it non stop to keep the inside at a very comfortable 72 or so. So, during the night the unit is off and not using any fuel at all. In the morning I turn it up to 72, hit the on button on my Mr. Coffee and get up about 10 minutes later.

Also, as with any mechanical piece of equipment, failures are part of the equation and is a fact of life.

I like it cold also. I don't use heat unless its around 45. During the winter the propane kept the sleeper at about 70, and it makes no noise at all. I would pick a spot far far away fron the truck stop, for a nice silent night. Same now, if it's under 70, I open my windows. I also park nose in,....and then of couse some driver comes nose in at 3 a.m. with a stinking refer screaming

No alternator on it yet Steve? They've all failed between 500 & 1000 hrs & most of them have had 2 or 3 alternators now. & if you can still thread the caps off the access ports for you're a/c it might be a good idea to tape them up.....that way they will be usable when needed.
