How does someone who averages 400 miles per week get "way out of hours"?
Poor logging skills????

I'm just about 130 miles from my delivery point but saw a T/A out in the middle of nowhere yesterday and it's real nice, clean so I stopped here for the night. Did my laundry, fueled up, shower and a not bad meal.

The customer is going to unload me Saturday at 7am so that worked out good then off to a truck stop for the weekend. I tell ya, these 300 and 400 miles days are just killing me. I'm one hard driving trucker man.

Met a woman in the laundry room and she drives a flatbed. We got to talking and she was all bent out of shape. She works for Passmore and they just sent her a Qualcomm message to pick up a load even though she told them she was way out of hours. She told them no and they told her well, you can sit for the weekend and maybe next week a load will come up. She told me they consistently want her to run illegal and when she doesn't they punish her. She said she averages about 400 miles per week!!!!

This is exactly the scenerio I think the government should punish the carrier with at least a $10,000 fine. She has proof. I'm sure this happens all the time. I just can't imagine working for someone else.

I filled up yesterday and got 6mpg for doing 60mph for the last 2 days. Maybe I'll try 55 for 1 day and see what happens but I don't think I could take going that slow. I would end up down shifting on every single hill. 60 seems to be the slowest I can go in 10th gear.
That is the TA I was telling you about steve....

Keep us updated.

Something didn't sound right about my previous posts so I looked in my log book and I got my figures wrong that I posted.

At 67 mph I got 5.0 mpg
At 60 mph I got 6.2 mpg

Keep in mind I think these figures are very un-scientific. The only way to truly tell the difference is to have 3 identical trucks, running the exact same load on the same road, the same day with one doing 55, 60 and 65. All using the cruise control and all being fed by a measured container of fuel.

Half the day yesterday as I was driving I was bucking wicked head winds.

And to add to that steve, the fuel should be measured by weight, not by volume.

Yup!

I'm surprised these tests haven't been done already by like TMC or other large companies and the results published. Hey, Rev.Ahole, maybe you could do this test. I mean, you've just been sitting around for months without a job so why not. Ask your mom for some gas money and maybe you can publish the results on www.WhoGivesACrap.com

I'm unloaded and shut down for the rest of the weekend and should get a load out Monday and I'm hoping to head up to Washington State.

Around here we call it Washington, as opposed to Washington, DC.
