I pulled a 48' dry van at Landstar and I made over $175,000 on 125,000 miles,it is out there but you have to work to find it.




Was that gross or net to the truck?

Congratulations and glad for you!!! I never was against a cpm job. Things can be done incrementally. Only Super Steve can buy a truck and then learn how to operate it.

You have none of the headaches of finding loads.
Your deadhead is covered, hey, the more the better. :wink:
Fsc is guaranteed, I believe- let fuel hit $4 per gallon!
Company trailer, insurance, benefits, facilities
Large freight base to get you back to the house
None of that other crap I still don't even know like: logbook requirements, fuel tax payments, factoring, brokers, drug testing, purchasing plates, permits, insurance...

You get yourself established and take it from there. But please do keep us posted, we never hear from cpm guys over here. :lol:

The problem with cpm is that there is no room for improvement and the rates are usually not more than 1.15 if you include everything compensated. With operating costs nearing 90cpm I don't see how an O/O can survive for too long with that rate. Then again,I haven't found a decent-paying percentage carrier either. If a carrier pays 1.50 a mile for a load going one way that still only comes to about the same pay and doesn't even include deadhead. Having one's own authority may be the best way to go,even if there are more headaches involved. Now where is that 2pm freight I keep hearing or reading about? :lol:

geez, now I got the call from Barr Nunn also, they said regional driving 2500-2700 miles per week and almost every weekend home,I like that..fuel guaranteed at $2.25 per gallon,I liked that too...benefits for O/O..none...I didn`t like that.I have family and baby on the way and need good benefits and it looks like Crete has some nice benefits for their O/O`s..health,dental,vision,life etc...
now,I`m thinking....

Cam=I'm not sure if it'd mean "doesn't like girls"...but, I'd be pretty sure it's shorthand for "transexual, transvestite, transgender".
