well, in a nutshell it's like this. I got assigned an $18k linehaul going from Cleveland, Ohio to Seattle Washington...had 3 shipments on the truck. The shipment went like 2,500 miles, and I made 56% of that linehaul. Factor in that, and about $1,200 in fuel surcharge, accessorials, orig/dest. charges etc...it ended up being about $12k payable to me. It cost me about $1k in labor, and $1500 in fuel. My out-of-pocket expenses were only $1,300 to make $10,700 going 2,500 miles? It had me tied up for about a little over a week.

Well...I was always under the impression that inbetween tossing sofa's up and down flights of stairs, what I do was considered "trucking". If not, I apologize for clogging threads with my useless babble and will go stick my head in the sand now

Yeah, it is all included in the price of the shipment. There are little perks, such as Origin/Destination charges. I may pick-up a shipment in Chicago, and get $400 bucks for "doing business there"...take it to Houston, and snag up another chunk of change for going there. There's a couple of not-so-good things happening in the HHG industry after the first of the year, so I may very well end up doing enclosed car hauling.

I'm doing the car hauling teal, don't dip in my Kool-Aid!
I'm on a aiting list for an enclosed car carrier, and its NOT reliable. Anyways, I'm doing just over 2200 miles per week at just over $4/mile. To break it down what goes home, usually $.50 on ever dollar paid to me end up in my pocket- $8500 paid to bandit = $4250 AFTER fuel/tolls/lumpers/insurance/etc +tips! Like that room i was comped, the free meals, and the $100 bill I got afterwards!
