Its interesting to see how the different people react to this thread. Its like on of the hypothetical questions in Sunday School or Ethics Class.

For my $.02 I'd say its not quite flat out wrong..but you are certainly int he darker part of the gray area.

I have enjoyed the extra scoop of ice cream from a friend at 31 flavors, and I don't consider that wrong.

I understand there may have been a "wrong" in this scenario, but I just don't feel it was greater on my end of the deal.

As far as getting the point, I do, its just that I don't agree. Siphoning diesel out of tanks is stealing in my book, but purchasing goods and services from another person legitamately isn't. However, as far as I know, it was his fuel out of his pocket, so 50/50 if fuel was stolen from his employer.

Raise of hands- anybody ever have a buddy that worked at Burger King that would give you free food or upsize your order for free? Anybody ever know anyone who worked at a tire shop and got free tire fix or rotation from one friend to another? I think this falls under that umbrella.

I'm not trying to say I'm right or wrong, and with the exception of a few posts, I understand where each individual is trying to convey, and where they are coming from. I respect each post as well, even if it doesn't fall in line with my point of view.

Bush Bunny, I think the undetermined part is if he was a company driver or o/o leased on. Whether the company paid for the fuel or it was taken out of the drivers pocket in the end.

My problem with this whole thread is that when you look at it on paper you get one conclusion, but when you are out there in it you might have something different going thru your head. I can't count the number of times I have heard someone who has repo'd an o/o truck and then he gets on the CB and sells off everything he can in that truck.... TV,CB, inverters, tools etc.... and you know what??? He never has a prob selling it, drivers are there to jump on the deals. Sometimes you might get one driver who tries to speak up and let people know it is wrong, and he is ignored. It is easy to act all moral, and ethical here, but I would love to be the fly in your cab when you heard someone on the CB say 50 gallons for $50.

When they sell that staff, you have mentioned, they didn't have no choice, they do the best they can, to recover some of the money.

But no O/O, in a right mind, would buy a 3 bucks a gallon fuel, to sell it for a buck a gallon.
It's not about moral, it's about common sense!

Would you risk your lifehood, for a 100 bucks? I sure don't! :P

I actually agree, but when I thought about it, I wouldn't be caught without cash like that either. SO if he was that bad with $$ then the second part (selling fuel at a loss) is not a far stretch. I was just pointing out that it could have been an o/o and therefore wasn't theft.....

off topic how do you do that quote thing?? I can't seem to figure that one out.

There is a "quote" button on the top right banner bar above each entry.
Click on that and it'll take you to "post a reply" with the selected entry "quoted" in the body.
