I ran into a pumpkin driver yesterday morning outside of Cleveland. He was a new driver, with about 4 months experience. We were talking, and I asked him about Schneider. During this conversation, I found that his truck had over 700,000 miles on it! He said that they weren't going to replace it until 820,000! Couldn't believe it.

With rare exception, I've never heard of a company that keeps their trucks that long...

They must feel confident that they can still fill seats, while keeping wages down.
Stan, you might be right...then again, who knows, if they save $6500 per driver, maybe they will pay their drivers better....unless the shareholders are greedy. Time will tell. Not that I am particularly worried about it.

I talked to one of their new bulk drivers.....giving up 3 hours free(Carlo says thats wrong...but thats what the driver told me...maybe he doesn't understand his pay) but anyway.....no thanks. I like what I have and am staying ritecheer..... BTW, Happy New Year, and I'll probably call you soon...just been really lazy over the holidays....actually spent most of my time sick and working on the boat.

During the month of November, I bought over 1,000 gallons at Pilots, and they gave me another 1,000 points extra last month for it...so, I earned $10.00 for simply spending my employer's money at Pilots...

They are almost always clean, well lit, and very consistent...much more so than the majority of T/As....

I actually enjoy difficult backs...great practice! I was at the Pilot in London, OH one time, and there was one decent spot that two different drivers before me tried to get into. They couldn't make it, and eventually gave up...but I did! Doesn't bother me....

Nothing special about backing at the Pilot or the T/A in London ,OH .

You're right! I've got everything but the grinder, and I need to get one.... Nowadays TS coffee is worse than bad..... The stuff I buy makes Starbucks seem like dishwater.. Me like my coffee, and I can fix it anywhere!

We don't fuel at Pilots....so I don't miss them a bit. Most have turned into grungy dumps.....then again most TA's aren't much better......in fact most truck stops leave a lot to be desired....

I think it is unfortunate to lose a good training school, if they are in fact a good program. The community college in my hometown has had a CDL school for over 30 years. They have "slow trucks" all around town. I don't mind putting up with slow trucks knowing the student drivers are in a good program.
I have heard the opposite. Everyone has been telling my dh that it is one of the worst!

jb pretty much only uses pilots. Since I eat a lot of Subway on the road that dosnt bother me but the lack of parking sure does. There are some pilots that have pretty good parking but most are pretty tight. Ruther Glen, VA sucks for one.

Hell I dont think many drivers with 5+ years experience wants to stay out weeks at a time. I know I wouldnt.
What ever happened to the miserable "Inmate"?
Didnt he drive for them?
