“For years, the motor carrier industry has propagated the myth of a driver shortage,” said Rajkovacz. “This move demonstrates that a driver shortage does not exist in this economy and that motor carriers can readily meet their staffing requirements with experienced and veteran drivers without expending considerable financial resources training new drivers.”

Thank you Mr. Rajkovacz. That is exactly what has been said on here for years. I'm sure glad that OOIDA is finally catching up with CAD.
Driver shortage is attributable to "churn." That is, drivers churning from one coolie carrier to another, then finding that the situation is just as bad at the next company.
Low wages, horrible working conditions, long unpaid hours and the unscrupulous practices of OTR companies...........are just a few of the reasons that these OTR companies burn through more than 100% of their drivers annually. The only industry that even comes close is the fast food industry. Folks, I'm ashamed that we have to even be in a class that is compared to fast food. What a shame.
I think this new poster Mike Hunt is really on to something..............
