There are different types of learners:

1. Visual learners (we learn best by seeing). Most of the population.

2. Kinetic learners (we learn best by doing).

3. Auditory learners (we learn best by hearing).

4. Combo of any/all of the above.

If you are primarily a kinetic learner, you might want to buy a used Diesel engine from the local junk yard so that you can practice hands-on.
