I still intend on getting my Hazmat, but I am going to wait until the money is there for me to get it. I just don't want to haul anything that utilizes smooth bore. At least if it is a baffled trailer, you have the sloshing, but it is more contained.
If you are going to learn something, you should learn every aspect of it.
I'm curious as to why you are afraid of pulling a tank without baffles? Its kind of like the new drivers that only want to drive auto shift trucks. Don't be afraid of things you have never even done yet! In my opinion if you are afraid of some things in the trucking business, you should probably stay away. This is not an attack on you, but why let this scare you when many have learned and do it every day in different types of situations. If you want to haul tanks, learn it all, and be confident.
I agree, one more thing, do you have a good back? the slamming back and forth can be pretty hard on the back at times. you do learn to shift a lot smoother.

yep, and I think if learns on an unbaffled tank first, a baffled one will be a piece of cake

one more thing you might consider is that some comapnies may have both and they arent going to want to worry about which one you can pull, so come on,. get your hazmat, get experience on both and join the fun.. anything you learn cant hurt you.

There are a couple..... But it would help to know where you live.

Do you want to pull chemical or food grade?

Check your PM's.... I sent you one.

Being alittle apprehensive is OK....it will make you more careful and safety concious 8) Fear as in scared...no. But it is a different way of doing things and your driving "style" will be altered. But then again....in tankers, we don't jump through hoops and its more "laid back" as opposed to box freight and such. 8) 8)
