Yes, that was a good poem. The sentiment is STRIKING! I just wish people felt the same way about GUN CONTROL! Look up the numbers sometime about how many INNOCENT people die because some idiot had a GUN..... and NOT the temperament to control its USE! And then, there's DWB! [Driving Without a Brain!] And Crotch Rockets!!! Not a day goes by that I don't see where some kid (20yr old give or take) who died or killed someone just BECAUSE that stupid "bike" could DO 120 mph!!! They've got NO business on the highways of America.... if the driver can't control himself and obey the laws!!!! Ask "Mom" how she feels about guns, crotchrockets and Drivers with no brains!! My bet is.... she'll feel just as devastated if it costs the life of her child! Hobo I don't want to "TOAST" you on your opinion, having the freedom to have your own thoughts and opinions makes this a GREAT country. However I have a different view of gun control. I think instead we should have criminal control. Not the broken prison system we have now. I grew up participating in and to this day still enjoy the shooting sports. And as you can tell by the picture under my handle I may have had to train on and train others in my previous careeron the proper use of firearms. And I have trained kids who had never even fired a BB gun to shoot and be safe with a weapon. Maybe that is the answer, instead of more laws we have more training. I also ride a motorcycle, not a crotchrocket, but am to scared to do the 120mph thing. And you are right I hate seeing other riders that pull wheelies on the open road. The loss of any life is a tragedy. I know by other threads you have posted your feels on gun control, and don't want this to turn into an argument session. Just wanted to express my opinion.

just wanted to bump this alittle, when i saw this poem it sure did bring back alot of memories and sorry to say they are not good one's either. So i had to post it for other Driver's to see.Why it bought back bad memories is about 25 or so yr's ago i worked for a rather large Wrecker Company here in Town of about 100,000 or so and i had to work alot of senceless and uncalled for accident's where cars was split in half by DWI Driver's.
When we was on Police Call you can and will get anything trust me the worst one was a 67 yr.old man in a old chevy PU hit this car with a boy and girl ages 17 and 15 the old man was a DWI out drinking all day he broad sided the car it did a complete 360 in the middle of the Road and the forse it flipped into the ditch, fire dept,Medic's and State Patrol was there working it heard one of the Medic's tell the fire dept to get the Bag well out come's the BAG no was not a BODY BAG for the 15 yr old girl but a bag to hold every thing together till they can transport you then they put air in it. The Air Staff for Life was there waiting to lift her to the University and they did but the poor young girl died about 1 hr. after arriving at the hospital the State Patrol had o tell the poor Parent's the tragic newsthe news no one want's to tell or hear, all we could do was clean up the crash go back to the Station think about it abit move on to the next DWI crash or arrest cause on Police Call ya knew it was a giving it would happen as bad as you didn't want it to.

"Why, Mom?"
I went to the party, Mom, and I remember what you said. You told me not to drink, Mom, so I drank pop instead. As I lay here on the pavement, Mom, I hear the policeman say, the other guy is drunk, Mom. Now I'm the one who'll pay. I'm lying here...dying, Mom. I wish you'd get here soon. How could this happen to me, Mom? I saw you just this noon. MADD propaganda obviously. In a least 2 states it will soon be required that all drivers will be required to have a blow/ ignition installed on vehicles whether you have ever had a drink in your life or not. A lot of folks that used to beat the drum for mad are starting to realize, hey this isn't right, you mean to tell me that my one drink at dinner could prevent me from being a free American. Tough crap law abiding, Joe lunchbucket, you thought MADD was cool in the 80's, don't start whining now. By the way Joe Lunchbucket, ever notice how the most dangerous drivers are the prescription impaired elderly, the SUV driver with a cellphone, or the punks with thier gay little 4 banger Mazdas.....get a clue. There's blood all around me, Mom, and most of it is mine. I hear the medic say, Mom, I'll die in a very short time. I just want you to know, Mom, I swear I didn't drink. It was just the others, Mom, the others didn't think. He probably was there tonight, at the same party as I. The only difference is, I guess, he drank, and I will die. Why do people drink, Mom, when it can cost a life? I'm feeling real sharp pains now...pains just like a knife. The guy who hit me's walking, Mom, and I don't think it's fair. I'm lying here...dying, and all he does is stare. Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to be brave. And when I go to heaven, Mom, put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave. Someone should have told him, Mom, not to drink and drive. If only they had told him, Mom, I would be alive. My breath is getting shorter, Mom, I'm really getting scared. Please don't cry for me, Mom. When I need you, you're still there. I have just one last question, Mom, before I say goodbye. I didn't drink and drive, Mom. So why am I to die? –Author unknown |
