For Those that come on here talkin about DWI's

here is good poem for you to remember and to go by the next time you have just one more shot or beer.

"Why, Mom?"

I went to the party, Mom, and I remember what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom, so I drank pop instead.
As I lay here on the pavement, Mom, I hear the policeman say,
the other guy is drunk, Mom.
Now I'm the one who'll pay.
I'm lying here...dying, Mom.
I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me, Mom?
I saw you just this noon.

There's blood all around me, Mom, and most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say, Mom, I'll die in a very short time.
I just want you to know, Mom, I swear I didn't drink.
It was just the others, Mom, the others didn't think.
He probably was there tonight, at the same party as I.
The only difference is, I guess, he drank, and I will die.

Why do people drink, Mom, when it can cost a life?
I'm feeling real sharp pains now...pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me's walking, Mom, and I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here...dying, and all he does is stare.
Tell my brother not to cry, Mom.
Tell Daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, Mom,
put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.

Someone should have told him, Mom, not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom, I would be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, Mom, I'm really getting scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mom.
When I need you, you're still there.
I have just one last question, Mom, before I say goodbye.
I didn't drink and drive, Mom.
So why am I to die?

Good Post, BigDawg!!!

Sadly, the ones most in need of reading it are the same ones least likely to heed the excellent point that you have made!!

Of my children, my two oldest are nearly 14 and I pray every day that I never get that phone call. Such a sad poem, but oh so true.

How easy it is ...

Just to say how easy it is to get a DUI

So you know that your BAL will absorb 1 drink per hour so you feel pretty good about drinking only 2 drinks in say an hour. Well .. if that drink is a special ... like Long Island Ice tea, Margaritas, Zombies .. etc. You could really be drinking 3 or even 4 drinks per one "drink".

A 130 pound women consuming only 2 "Special" Margaritas-- a shot of tequila, shot of grand marnier, shot of Contreu .. will blow .24 .. Just two drinks ..

You all be careful out there. Myself .. any ETOH -- 24 hours from bottle to any throttle.

Dang that is a good poem, makes me think of my daughter, and never want that phone call.
