R U 4 real..... what the f@#$ are you talking about, first off firearms are illegal in big rigs , plus going acoss statelines, and you would never have time to play with guns if you were seriously driving all the time.... and as for dealing with the big bad wolf of oakland, well guess you never had to deal with it or you would know how.... ROFLMAO

There is no Federal law that says you can't have a firearm in a truck. The problem is most State laws plus company policies don't allow firearms.

Does anybody know if there are any laws against carrying bear mace anywhere in US and Canada.

The bear mace is considered a weapon up here in canada, therefore if you crossed the border with it and got caught, you'd be in a bit of trouble.

Here is a good place to look for state laws. http://www.handgunlaw.us/
With only a few carry permits, you can carry a concealed weapon in the vast majority of states. It is areas such as NYC that would cause you problems. However, if you run regional it is perfectly doable. I would say to hell with company policy, it is better to get fired than to end up dead.

Well, after 6 1/2yrs of driving OTR, I've yet to have even needed to use a tire thumper, let alone the need of a gun. I've spent many nights in bad neighborhoods and didn't have a single problem.

Just read a story last week that Ohio amended there Concealed carry Law. The new one makes it easier for the truckers to be in compliance.
Something about how it is stowed.

During orientation with CFI (Jan 06) it was plainly stated that there was NO company policy regarding a firearm in the truck. If company policy isnt a factor, then the only problem it seems would be with individual state laws. For example in TN there are only 18 states that do not recognize Tennessee Handgun Carry Permits ( http://www.state.tn.us/safety/handgun/reciprocity.htm). So if I drove SE regional I'd be legal in almost every state I'd travel in.
