"No Smoking" signs to be placed on company trucks in Ohio
#22
I don't really under stand this law. The cab of the truck is a work place for one person THE DRIVER. It not open to the pubic. So if that 1 driver wants to smoke more power to him. If this law does pass it will be one of the biggest BS laws i have ever seen.

I dont think it comm. vechicles. I work for the gov. in Ohio and the copy they handed us of the law they where talking mainly about gov buildings, vechicles and grounds . plus they have six months from the 8th to make as many revisions to the law they think nessary. As far as I was told the only way it will affect a truck driver is if you are a state of ohio employee . execpt when you deliver and if it is a actule factory or warehouse they are aloud designated smoking areas at least ten foot away from all doors. This maybe wrong but this is how it was explained to me by my boss, also last I heard thay didn't even know who was going to be incharge of the enforcement issue

Ok I've been tryin to keep my mouth shut.. lol. I smoke. Not the best decision in my life but I do and I"m ok with it. Like someone said earlier there are smokers that don't care and smokers that do. I like to think of myself as a smoker that does care. When I go out to a bar or casino (I'm in Arizona right now WOOT for indian gambling!) and the people on both sides of me are smoking then I'll smoke no problem. But if I sit down and one person isn't smoking I've ALWAYS asked if its ok if I smoke and if they say no then I won't or I'll go find another seat.
I have a really good friend back home that doesn't smoke but he's offered repeatedly to let me smoke in his house or car. I just excuse myself and go outside to smoke. I mean it is my decision to smoke not his or anyone elses and I don't feel entitled to force them to smoke just because I want to. On a similar note, having non smoking trucks available for non-smokers would be ok with me. However I HATE being told by the government that I can't smoke somewhere public. I've never owned a business but I have friends that have bars/restaurants/etc... and they HATE these laws. Unless the government OWNS the building how in the hell can they dictate what goes on (within reason obviously prostitution, drugs, etc... are different) inside? Ok... I gotta pack, got my license straightened out this evening so I'm gonna show up at Swift school tommorow morning and see if they'll take me.
