Right, understand . . . he'll get it Aug 07 and wants to work earlier. That's why he needs to get his recruiter to look at other documentation like his LES or the letter he mentioned.

I keep thinking he doesn't have a "documentation issue" . . . he has a "recruiter issue."

it's probably just a reflex for the recruiter, you hear "military" and automatically jump to "dd214." i'm sure once the OP provides his LES it'll be enough to cover his time.

That is exactly what I am thinking. They hear "Military' and automatically want to see the DD214.

What they (recruiters/companies) probably don't deal with on a daily basis is my issue of wanting to work before I am technically retired.

I retired last year and got a copy of my DD-214 on final outprocess prior to terminal leave. Terminal leave is exactly that, you're done, you don't do anything after it. The final original DD-214 is sent to you following your retirement date but the copy is fine for employment. They simply wait to sent the original in case something changes while on terminal.

You should be having all this layed out clearly for you at a transition assistance program class. If you didn't go yet you absolutely should.

That's what i like to hear!! And I did attend TAP once already back in July (and will be attending again in March) but they never did say anything about us getting a copy before going on terminal. Although that does make the most logical sense. THANKS

Some of the trainers aren't very good, but now you've got some questions to press them on. Have fun, once you're over 20 you deserve it.

Maybe all they are looking for is the reenlistment code of RE-1 and could care less about everything else. The dates of service will just save them a lot of running down 10 years of employment verifications.
