Sadly, as most of the posts here (except Ridge's) show, most here apparently DO. :tears:
A week or so after the earthquake, I came here and was amazed that STILL there had been no thread or post about it! I did a search, and came up with ONLY my own post mentioning my Dad's involvement in a mission there on the "2010 predictions" thread. I couldn't believe it. Not a SINGLE member of CAD even wanted to mention it? I, personally, held off for fear of being accused of "bragging" about what my Dad was doing... and because I just wanted to see how long it would take before anyone here gave it a thought, and whether the tone would be what I expected. I was not surprised.

Now we are bringing these Haiti people to our country to use our Hospitals.

Yes. And I hope that if you are ever in a foreign country and a disaster strikes, someone will take you to THEIR hospital to save you (or your future child's) life. Ever see the show MASH? Even during wartime, our country (and others') have taken in even the ENEMY to try to save lives. It is one of the FEW redeeming qualities of humans.
Quote:
But an American cant use the hospital if he doesn't have Insurance.

Not true, of course. The uninsured here do it ALL the time.... and at a greater expense to the taxpayer than if we subsidized an insurance policy for them. This is ONE reason why healthcare will bankrupt our government if we don't reform it.

Plus all the millions we gave them.

About 100 million so far pledged by our government on behalf of the taxpayers. A mere drop in the bucket compared to what Dubya promised the Iraqis to rebuild the infrastructure and society that WE destroyed by conducting our little war against terrorism in THEIR backyard. An amount SO insignificant that an equal amount was raised through charitable giving within the first week by citizens of this great country.

I just don't ****ing get it!!!! Why cant we take care of our own first.

Well, when it comes to disaster aid, our government has not been SHY about helping OUR OWN. But, as your question pertains to why we can't help our own UNINSURED citizens get healthcare? Simple answer: The party of NO.
America, as Ridge said, will ALWAYS come to the aid of others when disaster strikes. If that poses a problem for you due to your belief in the inequity of our OWN "status quo" healthcare industry / policies.... then, you must be in favor of "change." The only team offering that change is Obama and the Dems.
I'm not saying that the GOP has not presented some good ideas at long last. But, where were those ideas since the time they killed HillaryCare when they took over congress mid-Clinton administration? 12 years with no relief, and suddenly.... when they see the writing on the wall.... they have all these IDEAS to counter Obamacare? "Disingenuous" is the BEST word I can use to describe their "efforts."

But we now can plainly see, the government designs the programs to fail, so they can ask for more and more tax dollars, power and control.

Better loosen that 5 cent tinfoil hat there Hoggie! It's cutting off the oxygen to your brain.

Giving them money is like feeding wild animals, they just keep breeding and coming back for more, it will never end!

This is funny. Almost verbatim from some congressman who said this a day or two ago, and has now had to apologize for it! Proof of what I've been saying.... that so MANY here (and elsewhere) are just repeating the B.S. they are hearing from FOXNews and other agitators.
No, really! The ORIGINAL form of this racial epithet contains NO mention of wild animals. It just mentions the HUMANS in our country who live off welfare and continue to "breed" more of the same. I've NEVER heard the alliteration to "wild animals" until just this last week. So this, again, is just a VERBATIM recitation of the propaganda being spewed by the likes of Michelle Bachman, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. At least I can't accuse the Conservatives of not being "transparent." :hellno:

how much did they help us after our last disaster?

Gee Fredog.... how much COULD they have helped? However, are you aware of their significant contribution to the Louisianna Purchase?

As for the drug abusing welfare recipients, West Virginia is working on passing a law requiring drug testing on ALL persons receiving public assistance. I hope this bill passes as it's got the most common-sense approach to the problem.

I absolutely agree with you on this! If WE truckers have to keep our chit clean, and the military and government employees (with security clearances) have to do the same.... then, I am ALL FOR mandating a drug free requirement to qualify for government assistance! Just like I don't believe taxpayers who are against abortion should have to PAY for abortions.... those against drug abuse (most of us, I would hope) should not have to subsidize such activity.

Being the best, being number one, being the leader is a great burden and we bear it knowing that somewhere, someone will try to find fault with what or how we did it.

And the great shame of our political system is that those faultfinders are most often legislators and representatives of our OWN people. Not to mention members of the media, and apparently our own selves.

Everytime WE have a hurricane...doesn't matter where it hits the USA....Haiti has its hands extended expecting a share of any disaster money!!

Can't say as I've done any research to counter this opinion. But, I sure would like to see some reference cited to prove it.
In closing MY rant on this subject (for now) I'd just like to relay one thing my father noticed while over there. Nothing new.... we've heard it on CNN. But, everytime an aftershock hit, the people would run out of whatever building they were in because they feared more death and destruction. And IMMEDIATELY upon realizing they were STILL alive, they would break out into songs of praise to God for his benevolence and deliverance. No cussing him. No complaining. Just worship and praise.
For citizens of OUR country, who claim to be incensed by the lack of morality and godliness in our society.... who BOAST of their faith and adoration of the God they claim was the foundation of our country.... to exhibit the level of distrust, disgust and disaffection for the highly religious and moral people of Haiti... in their time of need... well, it just sickens me. And proves everything I know to be true about a certain 'segment' of our society that I liken to the Pharisees of old.
[Of course, I'm not referring to anyone here on CAD! Probably just talking about them "teabaggers!"]
