G-Man says None of these people, other than McVeigh, targeted innocent people. And in McVeigh's instance, he targeted a government building. According to what I recall about the story, he did it in retaliation to what the government did at Ruby Ridge. It had nothing to do with him doing it in the name of Christianity. Rev Says You recall incorrectly. He did it on the 2 year ANNIVERSARY of Waco, and for a reason. I say The below is a cut and paste from a web search and is pretty much the same story from many many sites as to why he bombed that building, I cant find anything that says he did it in the name of Christianity. G-Man more or less stated this correctly. Yes he did coincide it with the 2 year anniversary of Waco but it had nothing to do with any sort oif Christian beliefs according to anything i can find. The chief conspirators, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, met in 1988 at Fort Benning during basic training for the U.S. Army. Michael Fortier, McVeigh's accomplice, was his Army roommate. The three shared interests in survivalism and held anti-government views including opposition to gun control. They also expressed anger at the federal government's handling of the 1992 Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) standoff with Randy Weaver at Ruby Ridge as well as the Waco Siege—a 1993 51-day standoff between the FBI and Branch Davidian members which ended with the deaths of David Koresh and 75 others. In March 1993, McVeigh visited the Waco site during the standoff, and then again after its conclusion.McVeigh later decided to bomb a federal building as a response to the raids.

Regardless what you may have to say, either for or against Obama, in talking to people around the country, I don't see him getting a second term. Palin would have a really good shot at beating him in the next election by a landslide. The whole country is looking for a "savior" to pull us out of the economic disaster we're all in, and he isn't it. The general public feels that they were going to get a leader that was going to do something for the common man, and instead, got someone that turned his back on them. At this point, if there were to be an attempt on him (and if there is, I am not part of it), it will not be about his race, but his programs. The people that voted him in feel that they are being left out.
Unfortunately, the spending to try to revive the economy has become a "pyramid scheme". Because of the increased taxes that HAS to come from all the spending, it will require even more spending to keep the economy going. It's like pumping water out of all the small creeks and streams to dump into the Mighty Mississippi. And, the more water you pump out of the creeks and streams, the more you are going to have to dump into the Mississippi because it won't be available from the creeks and streams anymore. You've already taken it and used it. The government MUST CUT THE SPENDING in order to cut taxes and have more revenue available for the common man to spend and turn the economy around. The people do correctly see Obama as doing exactly the opposite. Instead of cutting the cost of government and reducing taxes, adding more departments means more taxes to pay the people that man these new departments. A czar might be an advisor, but that czar also has staff and a budget. Where does that money come from? Additional taxes. They don't have a choice. Even if they do not have 100% correct information, they do realize the additional taxes coming. They see money being dished out to corporate entities, but nothing getting to the guy at the bottom. Instead, the guy at the bottom is going to have to pick up the tab on it all. That's what they're upset about. The additional burden, and they can not afford what they have now. That list of all the taxes we get to pay, that did not exist a hundred years ago, has been making the rounds.

Government might have gone over the top with both of these things, but only because they refused to co operate. Randy with his failure to appear and David with his constant refusal to let the agents disarm him and his followers. There is no reason to have the militias around, this is not a thirld world country in which every neighberhood has a military power with its own laws. I agree with the government even though I think it could have been handled with a little bit more professionalism.

I never did understand all the hype involving her. Someone who didnt know that Africa was a continent, not a country should be banned from public life altogether, not encouraged to be in it. BUT, looking at that video that Vassago posted earlier, she would have a support of zombies, no doubt about it and it seems to me that there are alot of those out there..I would be ashamed to live in a country in which she is a president of.

I don't think Palin would have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the nomination, let alone the election. If Obama is going to lose, it is going to be because of his inexperience, and the results of that inexperience. It is unfathomable to think that the American public would respond by voting in yet another inexperienced politician.

I think you give the over reactionary people of this great country way to much credit Rev. One would think Palin doesnt have a chance but you can truly never tell what kind of whim the fickle media driven citizens of this country will go with next. You certainly cant say that Obama got in simply because America thought he was truly the most qualified person for the job. I would not want to be anywhere else but ya gotta see that this country gets crazier and less easy to figure out with each passing day.....Long story short, nothing would surprise me at this point including another crazy choice for president.

From what I remember reading about the incident, I am not sure the government actually had a right to be on the property in Ruby Ridge. In any case, federal agents murdered his wife. In the case of Waco, federal troops were sent in to the Dividian compound. That should NEVER have happened. In fact, troops are not supposed to be used against our citizens. This should have been a police matter. Janet Reno sent in the troops. I remember seeing video when this happened. It looked like a tank started a fire when the barrel of the cannon penetrated the building. I think David Koresh was a nut case with a Messiah complex, but this did not give federal troops the right to kill innocent people. The more our government does things such as this the more citizens will distrust them. What Timothy McVeigh did was wrong, but when the government acts the way they did at Ruby Ridge and Waco, it breeds rebellion. I don't think that is right to target innocents whether it is by individuals or the government.

I don't see Obama being elected to another term in office. It isn't his lack of experience that will cost him the reelection, but his policies. The way he is going he will do good to complete his first term. Apparently, the American people don't care about experience. Palin connected with the American people because of her views and values. She expressed the views of much of our people. Her policies were never attacked. The opposition and media attacked her personally as well as her family. If this election had been about experience she would have won hands down. She is the only one of the four candidates who actually had any executive level experience running a business or government. She was mayor of a town and governor of the largest state in the union. Instead of electing experience, the people elected a president who has never had either. I am not sure she will run for president in the next election. The way things are going, anybody the Republicans put up may be elected after Obama. I am not sure we get the best people running for any elected office. Most people would not want to put themselves or their families through the trash the media puts them through once they declare to run. It discourages many well qualified people to run for public office. I still think that it would be a good idea to have "NONE OF THE ABOVE" on all ballots.

I have been involved in several political campaigns over the years. I would caution you about putting too much credence in what you see from any video clips, no matter who posts them. You can take 20 people and with the right setting and camera angles make it appear that you have a stadium of people. Any time you have 2 million people at a rally, there are bound to be a few that are off the wall. Besides, you have no way of knowing whether these clips were staged or real. Having seen how some of these things are put together, I suppose that I am a bit more skeptical about anything that I am shown through the media unless I was there in person. By using a few clips such as what was shown the opposition can make it appear that it was only a few nut cases who were at the march. When in reality, this could have been staged and the majority of people present were actually average citizens who are simply concerned about this country. |
