Don't know how many of you guys are watching this on TV but this is just scary! The whole span of the bridge is collapsed. They are saying there could be dozens of cars in the river. This is horrific!

More like hundreds of cars. It was at rush hour and there was a Twins game scheduled. Not to mention all the construction workers that were repaving the bridge.

Wow, I feel for all those people. Many years back here in NY the Schoharie bridge on I-88 took a plunge. It was due to rushing water and killed a few people. What a mess.
I wish the best for anyone who knows someone that got injured there.

I remember it was a Schneider truck because when I was going to driving school in Green Bay in 1993 we talked about that accident. This bridge collapse in Minneapolis sounds much worse!

Afraid the Death rate is really going to climb tomorrow
The Time frame you mentioned sounds about right but I sure thought it was Ohio for some reason. One thing I do know for a fact is that it was a Schneider driver.

I also remember when a section of an I95 bridge fell into the Mianus river in Greenwich CT in 1983.
That one also resulted in multiple fatalities as traffic was moving right along and suddenly there was no road there and vehicles dropped into the water. It happened at night, if it had happened at rush hour it would have been much worse.

It's just creepy cus I've been over the bridge a few times in a truck.
I'm also reminded of the Tampa bay bridge that collapsed several years ago when a ship struck one of the piers...that killed a lot of people

Not trying to be "hard-hearted"....but there are more important things than worrying about a commuter having to use a "surface road"  It will be interesting to see what the outfall on this one is. The 2005 inspection report says there were structural problems, and the subsequent 2006 report says there were no problems.... Did they fix them? Or did someone get a "present"?
