Define "poverty"

The last I heard the unemployment figures were under 5% .. 5% of the people in this country WILL NOT WORK!!!!

99% of the Anti- Bush stuff is simply being selectively ignorant to the history of the country and the politics of the country...

Trying to insinuate that GW Bush administration is anything near the power grabbers that the FDR gang was is just plain dishonest. The problem here is that we are a nation that refuses to realize that we are at war. We insist that our military go to war, but we as a nation refuse to get involved... it's SAD!

37 Million people in the US living in poverty as of 2005
US Census Bureau Data http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/pover...pov05fig04.pdf

6.8 Million unemployed as of February 2007

All of this and our own government continues to sell us out! Our government refuses to fix this country's own problems before promising, or even attempting, to fix other countries problems!

And to think that people gave him their trust two times... .consequences of this administration will have affect decades from now

Whats sad is the war, and do you mean Iraq war  , thats not a war, that is an invasion done by the few to benefit the few. Only thing that conservative types have to run on is the WAR, WAR with this, WAR with that, bomb this, bomb that, pre-emptive strikes, no nagotiations, bla-bla-bla..rest of the world is not following u types and without their support there is no WINNING, we are loosing everywhere because of the strategies of these people who are at the top, over 3000 soldiers died, BILLIONS in waste and people still are,, staying the course'', what course for Christ sake and how can you even talk about economy with dollar being at its lowest point and stock market is buying Euros instead. 1 dollar equals .69 Euros, inflation is visible but without aknowlegment, deficit over 500 billion and expected to hit trillion dollard in the next 2 years, we are in debt to our ears to China and Mexico, yes Mexico and that is WHAT, an economic improvement done by this admin?

Hmmmm. .... ..A suggestion that should have every good Republican salivating.....Let's recall all of the US troops stationed on Okinawa, in Japan proper, on Guam, and half of those stationed in South Korea and Europe.

Once those troops are back on US soil, we train all those troops up for Desert Warfare, then we invade Mexico. Once we have kicked some Mexican a$$..Mexico becomes US states, numbered 51 through 62. Mexico City would become the new HOME of the United Nations. No more UN in NYC, no more illegals (from Mexico) in the US, no more Mexican trucker worries, and..we just doubled Oil Reserves (PEMEX) for our country, as well as having improved the economic position of all former Mexican, now United States, citizens :!: :!: :!:
After we get Mexico integrated into the United States, we train up all those new soldiers we just acquired through the integration of the Mexican Army, then we invade Venezuela. Now..we don't make Venezuela a state, instead, we will assume control of their Oil Industry (CITGO regains status as an American oil company, with the name of AMOCO), and WE return Venezuela to a democratic (sic) system of government. Oh Yeah...we just increased US oil reserves again with that invasion!!!!

We could cut a deal with Bechtel Corporation to provide troop support services for these invasions, and Bechtel could hire illegal Mexicans currently residing in the US to function as truck drivers, cooks, security personnel and carpenters for the rebuilding of Mexico, then Bechtel could use all those new Citizens to staff troop support in Venezuela. Oil re-construction services would be contracted to BJ Services Company, Nobel Drilling, and Zachary Construction.
The best thing about all those new US citizens..they already speak Spanish, so communicating in Venezuela will be a snap.

WAR...fulfilling every good "Republican's" sense of duty.

 arty:

And by the way...all those income taxes all these new "Citizens" will be paying to the IRS won't hurt the coffers either!!

:moose:

No am not one of those, am the one with the common sence and the ability to think for myself instead of believing everything said to me. Your responses are really making it difficult to even have a discussion of this magnitude because its just way out of your level of reach my man, go back where you belong and what war wasnt started by us, Iraq  , where were you for that past 4 years?

Its interesting that all comebacks on this and other political subjects are turned into ,,treehugging'' bashing or type of bashing of that other side where there are names involved, names like ,,defeatocrats'' or many, many others. I never voted in my life so i dont concider myself red or blue but looking at it from the sidelines its really plum dumb and really old but in a way i can understand it since its ALL THE PEOPLE HAVE to answer the questions asked like the one i asked you specificaly about hilary Clinton wanting to use all oil profits for her own agenda or your comeback on a rising deficits, debt to China, slow economy growth, weak dollar, inflation, rising healthcare costs, rising tuition, skyrocketing prescription costs, rising property taxes, unfunded medicare, unfunded schools or the fact that conservatives tryed to stop the rise in minnimum wage for the poverty level of our citizens, and yes povery am not even gonna get into.........so whats the name you are gonna call me now?

The United States government actions in debt relief to Latin American, and other, countries.

http://foreigndebtforgiveness.com/index.html

Quote:
"If a debtor does not meet his contractual obligations, i.e. defaults and says he cannot pay, one normally asks about his assets. This question is rarely asked in polite international society. Even the large liquid assets of debtors are rarely brought into discussion. In many cases these assets run into billions of dollars." Lord Peter T. Bauer, Professor of Economics, London School of Economics, 1987 in "Ethics and Etiquette of Third World Debt," Ethics and International Affairs."
These actions of our government continue to this day! Money for debt relief and US military actions exceeding trillions of dollars over the years. There are many other valid places this money could have been spent!!!

The problem with this nation is the "republican/democrat" divide. I am neither, I am an AMERICAN....the friggin' politicians have forgotten who THEY are supposed to serve. The AMERICANS who put them in office. After over 30 yrs as a voter I will NEVER vote again. I'm tire of voting for the "lesser of the two evils"....BUSH panders to everyone else but his own...screw him.
