Crete_drvr I liek driver with a sense of humor like you. What I can't stand is that asshole 5 states away running 500 watts or whatever yelling the same damn thing over and over for days at a time. Fuck you no-one cares. I stab you in the face if I find you, just wait.

yoopr,

I'm going to hold onto it. I've had it for so long and there's lots of memories.

Wow, didn't realize it had gotten bad. Guess this means I get to scratch the idea of putting one in my van...

CB was by no means "new" in 1974....

I grew up with a very old crystal operated unit my dad purchased in 1964...along with his FCC license...(it was only the second in Washington County and the fourth in all of PA!!!)....

It had separate Tx and Rx freqs....You could have a full duplex conversation as long as you coordinated your Tx and Rx with your partner.

As founding members of the "Tri County Night Hawks" CB club we often monitored the airwaves for "violators" and reported them to FCC...much like the hams do now.....I hope this doesn't inflame our HAMsters on here!!!

When radios started going mobile (circa later 60's)...things got more fun...

The truckers were among the first to jump on the bandwagon and I still remember the fight my folks had when dad wanted to buy a radio for the truck...and the four wheeler.....mom could not see why you would ever need more than ONE radio!!!!

Our base station was a check in point for many of the local drivers who would call us and have us land line their wives to let them know they were almost home.....

In those days 10 was the drivers channel (anybody out there remember the pre "breaker one-nine" days??? It was only moved when the volume of users made the bleed noise on channel 9 too great....

And speaking of channel 9.....back then if you had trouble there was ALWAYS someone from REAC monitoring 9......you could yell your head off on 9 now and never get help...even in those states which advertise "state police monitor channel 9"....

KLQ-1503 and KGL-1313 were our call signs if any old timers who went through here remember and want to reminisce.

Yea I have a CB in the truck, it's off 99% of the time.

I took the test years ago for my amateur ( extra ) class license, even that's getting bad on hf now.

dude i waited all day for you to respond. i was going to, but thought
what will he say. that was a long dam wait.
And frankly I'm disappointed in you . When someone threatens to stab you in the face, id expect more of a response from you. the world famous crete drvr.
I'm trying to behave my self on cad and kaji is making it very tempting to detour my attempts at anger management.
