I had to register here just for this thread!

Your eyes are nothing to be screwed around with.. The way curved lenses are made with cheap lenses can cause your eyes to be "out of alignment" IE: 10 years down the road you will actually need to correct your alignment due to those glasses you bought for 10-20$'s

Whichever QUALITY sunglasses you get check them for optic accuracy take any source of light (lightbulb for example) and close one eye and then scan your glasses across the light(while not wearing them) and look for distortion of the light bulb @ any angle ( to compare this.. grab almost any cheap sunglasses and do the same.. you will see quite a lot of distortion on wrap around especially in the corners and near the upper extreemes of the bends

Another tidbit.. getting darker lenses is doing the opposite for you vs actually making the road safer to see (a regular dark grey tint .. vs good uv-a uv-b and/or polarization) you will rarely see a quality sunglass with more then a 15% reduction of light yet you can see 100% better with them....... and it's not due to the light reduction.. it's due to the coatings

If you want to find GOOD glasses for driving with a minimum of hastle find a bass pro shop/cabella and walk in they have a good selection and semi-helpful staff on the counter..

Can't go wrong with a pair of aviators. I bought this pair for $6 almost 5 years ago at a marina that I used to work for.

Gotta figure those pilots deal with a lot of UV and X-ray exposure way up there.

I never leave home without my Oakley's. My old man has been using serengetties(sp) for as long as I can remember and he swears by them. As long as your getting the best protection you can...name brand is only a matter of choice

Wow, some of the sunglasses mentioned here are over $250. Just too steep for me. I wear glasses and did not like the clip-on type. I bought my sunglasses at Cabela's Outfitters for $39. They fit nicely over my eyeglasses.

Some features from the Cabelas' website:
Lightweight, polarized lenses, hard-coated scratch resistant, engineered to withstand the rugged demands of fishing and boating, eliminates glare, available in gray, amber or yellow, the lenses are eight times stronger than competitive lenses.

Plus 100%, 360? UVA and UVB protection. polycarbonate side shields are permanently molded into the frames, temples adjust for a secure custom fit, the ultra-lightweight frames are so tough they carry a lifetime warranty against breakage. And it floats if dropped in the water.

i have a pair of Oakley Juliets yellow mirrored polarized and a pair of spoters penetrators. i wear the juliets 90% of the time because the spoters just arent dark enough during the day. you can not distroy eather pair the juliets are titamian and the spoters are nylion. both were worth the cost. i value my eyes 20/10 and want to keep them that way for as long as posible.

I got a pair of UV3 Polarized glasses, that I got down on the FL turnpike. I have always been a big far of gargoyles but broke my last pair. But the UV3 cost me 30 bucks and have been great.

I went to a sunglass place in the mall, and there is just to many choices of glasses. They mainly had Ray Ban, Oakleys and Maui Jims.
